I agree as well tj, especially this year considering Pitt's record. They have won 6 games. I just don't see them competing with anyone in the field. Didn't they get swept in the playoffs by Rocky Mount and get 10-run ruled each game? I could very well be wrong, and please know, I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but come on. I could live with the 9 team deal though.

Well before everyone just totally counts out Pitt County with their 6 wins, let me just remind you that Thomasville hosted the tourney in 2006 and they didn't even qualify for the playoffs and I believe (could be wrong) but they only had around 3 wins all year,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, yet they beat someone at the state tournament. So it DOES happen from time to time.

Now with that said, do I believe Pitt County is going to beat Cherryville, HECK NO. I've already went on record as saying Cherryville Coach Reynolds is going to save his ace Jake Watts for the 2nd round against the Rowan County/Duplin winner. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong,,,, but Reynolds has done that before (2003) and IMO he's one of the best coaches around, just check out his record.

I realize you have to win Game 1, before you can think about Game 2, but IMO Coach Gantt needs to "at least" consider the idea of saving Corbin Shive for 2nd round. Afterall, Rowan is playing a team that is 12-11 overall, and Rowan has been hitting the ball awful well lately. Shive vs. Watts in 2nd round would be a pitcher's dual for sure,,, Cherryville will have a huge advantage if it is Watts vs. anyone else.

And I think everyone agrees that if Cherryville does indeed play Rowan in the 2nd round, this LOSER will have a LONG road back thru the loser's bracket.

Your right, Cherryville is going to be tough to beat. But anyone cant be beat on any given day. All it takes is a dominating performance by a pitcher.:gunsmilie:

You are correct...we had only three wins and only had 11 players dressed for the tournament. You are also correct about winning a game in the tournament. After we got 10 runned by Garner in our first game, we sent Fayetteville home in our second game. And as a matter of fact, we had a 2 run lead in the 8th inning of our 3rd game before losing in the 9th. I can't remember who it was at this time, but when we left, their were only four teams left....But I agree...the format need changed........

    Venue Change for Sunday

The games on Sunday will be at ECU and Smith High School, not Rose HS as was originally announced.

That site is Guy Smith Stadium. It is not at a high school.
