USA/ASA 16-Under "A" 2009 National Championship

    Carolina Cardinals Chandler started pool play today in the ASA 16u A National Championship in Sioux Falls, South Dakota(yes thats right South Dakota). The field consists of 164 teams if you can believe it. How can NC send only one? Strong list of college coaches in attendance with this many 16u teams competing.

    Carolina Cardinals 2
    CA Irvine Sting 1
    Final

    Chelsea White(E. Rowan) 7 strong innings, Erin Kayton(Marvin Ridge) 3hits, Emilly Scott(Myers Park) singled in the first run and Stephanie Wood(Ardrey Kell) knocked in the game winner. Good start for the Cardinals against a tough CA opponent.

    Triangle Lightning 16U playing eastern nationals in Salisbury MD. starting tomorrow. Only NC team in that tourney.

    Carolina Blast 16-U playing in ASA Southern Nationals in Columbus, Georgia starting tomorrow. Only team from NC in this tourney too!! Wish us Luck!

    Irvine sting is known for strong program. have seem them before out here in the west. that win is a great, great start.

    I guess because they are a lot of good tournaments right around here. No need to spend that much money and travel that far to find a few games. Just because a tournament is a long way off don't make it any better. And even though there are a lot of teams you still will only play 6 or 8 games just like here with a 12 team tournament. For the ones who want a big vacation and don't mind the expense I say go for it and enjoy. But for the ones who just want to play summer ball you can find a tournament almost every weekend with in a two hour drive in NC, SC or VA. with a lot less money and travel

    It's the ASA Nationals you don't just go pay and play you have to EARN a berth to even get in .... but I do see where you are coming from GREAT competion right around our area !!!!!!!
