Ha Ha Ha Scal! My point was that CD was giving his time at an odd hour and beleive me the kids were damn happy to not have mama telling them to go to bed. The kids were having a ball and actually listening and learning. Was 1:00 am a little late, maybe so, but the kids were all ears.
BTW, hey Scal, how many kids have you coached or taught to date that are playing in college?
No slander pal, and certainly no disrespect, but what I hear in CDs post is there exists many folks with good intentions to help our kids, but they have no clue.

YEP. I said it, they have no clue.

My dad played in the pros, me and my brothers played in college, my mom in law owns a national champ gig in tennis my youngest bro has an '83 national championship ring.......................and this makes me an expert in teaching kids how to hit?

    No

FYI, go to USSSA A 14u in fastpitch 2004. Final rankings both points and power rating and see what team is in the picture and ranked #1 in the USA.
Fish ain't stupid at the game, he only plays that on TBR.

    the forbidden zone...

No slander or disrespect taken. I understood your point about the 1am. I'm not a coach so I can not say I coached any girls in college. Assistant Coach for one year of REC and that was enough for me. Just having some fun with CD. He's been my DD's hitting instructor since 2007. He knows us pretty well. Softballphreak is another friend and mentor. But I was serious about the hitting article. If anyone can write one CD can. Keep'em coming. BTW, you related to LW?

    Example

I think that the lead by example is the most important issue in coaching today, how many times has a coach told a player something to do but could not do it themselves if their life depended on it , yet they are the authority on the subject and can not demondstrate the motion or proper technique. If your paying for lessons or playing for a coach that talks a good game but can't play catch or hit fly balls to the outfield you better beware, these people are on an ego trip that will eventually lead to a lot of wasted time on your part. Enjoyed reading the article and I don't even have a DD that pitches, just like to read what people who know the have to say about it.

My DD never had a Pitching Instructor. She now is pitching at the DI level. She is 5 ft 5 inches tall and has had to fight for every thing she has done. I am a firm believer that it has alot to do with heart, desire and ability. If you watch most of the really good pitchers, they seem to be real competitive and cannot stand to give up a hit. I don,t think that is something any instructor can teach. Alot of people on this board have mentioned the next level. Every level gets much tougher. For the kids that love to compete and yes some times fail, college softball is a blast for them. I met Coach Dobbins this past weekend, and you can tell he is a great coach and loves the game.

CD is an awesome coach, like many others he gives his time and money to benefit the kids. Kinda hard to bitch when we have alot folks busting their butts to help our kids.

Thanks to all of the coaches and parents period!

Thanks Cheeze for a great thread.

    Pitching Coach

    Great article on pitching!

I am looking for a pitching coach in between Charlotte and Asheville and Spartanburg. Any suggestions on finding one or recommending one.

that is a great post CD. The only thing I would slightly agree with is not being able to pitch and being a pitching coach. There are a lot of wanna be pitching coaches around that really have no clue on how to teach pitching. I personally know of one guy who pitched and could through it fairly well and now does leasons but is a terrible pitching coach. Probablly the best pitching coach in the U.S. is Ernie Parker and he don't pitch at all but he has taught some of the best. In sports most of the best coaches aren't the really great players but the ones who spent a lot of time on the bench learning how the game was played. Very good information in your post though CD. You hit it on the head.
