Who has a good tie-break method when there is not enough time to have a real game?

    Some things that might work?:
    Most strikeouts
    Most walks
Most hits (might create controversy on questionable play)

They could do that before the game and save a lot of time. (jk)

I was looking for something that would be part of the competition. A coin toss isn't very competitive. When we've had to have games end in ties it doesn't set very well with the competitive spirit of the players. They put in the hard work and suffer the scrapes and bruises; they deserve to settle it on the field, so to speak.

I was sort of joking.... but I have seen it used in our HS conference to determine standing when two schools were tied.

    Breaking the Tie

    Just a suggestion......
Have the inning finish no matter the number of innings played. If the the games are spread out say 90 mins apart, have the game go 80 mins and finish the inning. If still tied then 1 inning of ITB, if still tied then number of hits, if still tied then least players left on base??????????

    another option to the ITB

An ABC organization around here used to use their own "Shootout" where runners were put on 2nd and 3rd, with both teams getting chances to bat until a winner was determined. And it went from the 1st inning, until a winner was determined.

Thanks. That's the kind of suggestions that are helpful. It sure beats having a game end up without a winner. I'm sure we could come up with a simple solution that everyone can work with.

I've always liked fewest runner allowed in those cases.

    Tie Breaker

How about letting the two head coaches Sumo wrestle on the pitchers mound. First one out of the circle loses.
