HS dead periods

American Legion Baseball is the exception to this rule. This is a great rule because it allows the girls the option of playing other sports without feeling pressured of missing practice/workouts for other sports that are not in season. It is simple get a parent or someone else to coach the team dring this month. Once school starts and the dead period is over a HS coach can only work with 8 girls at one time once a day. A HS school coach can't even give lessons to players if the attend or going to be attending his/her HS. Once, again this rule is in place to encourage playing multiple sports which is dying out very quickly in HS sports across the board. Good Luck and hope you can find someone to coach your team!!!

 

Don't know why anyone is upset with this rule, I must have read it at least a thousand times on this board, that there are no coaches in hs, all the good coaches are travel ball coaches.
This rule just gives them a chance to shine...

 

Because a lot of the good assistant hs coaches are travelball coaches first. If they aren't allowed to coach tb at will many may stop helping with the hs and for many of the hs's they are the biggest source of knowledge. I could maybe understand the hs head coach or even the paid assistant but to put this restraint on volunteer assistant is absurd and borderline unconstitutional. Haha I maybe be a little overboard with that
