12U Babe Ruth World Series Starts Today!

    No Pitt County!

    For the 1st time ever, Pitt County will not be playing in a Wilson County 12U Babe Ruth Softball World Series. Pitt County has won every World Series played in Wilson: 2000, 2003, & 2007.
    Pitt County has won six World Series titles since 2000: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, & 2007!

    Washington, NC defeated Pitt County in the Southeastern Regional Championship game!

    you are right about that. Pitt County has been a fixture at the babe ruth world series.
    A tough nut to crack. somehow they always did it right to put together a local rec league, then quickly turn it into an all-star team and into a travelling unit culminated by the babe ruth playoff run to the WS. they were loaded. I always wondered did they pick their all-star team before the rec season started.

    and most years their other age groups younger and older also mostly won out. I've seen years when all age group State BR champs were from Pitt.

    they always seemed to set their sights on the BR tournament trail in a way that other counties could not duplicate.

    Pitt County 16 U

    16 U team from Pitt County is at the BRWS in New Hampshire. Great group of girls with coaches who know how to coach, but more improtantly, treat their players with respect.

    What is Babe Ruth Softball? I have never heard of it. I played Babe Ruth baseball "back in the day". Is it like Pony, Dixie, ASA,NSA etc?

    I think it's like little league where the base runners can't leave the base until the ball crosses the plate. Also I think everyone must play a minimum of innings and pitchers can only pitch a certain number of innings.

    What city is the tournament being played in and how many teams playing?

    basically the same as dixie youth but has pushed out dixie youth in many areas as a rec league.

    It seems this Dixie or Babe Ruth leagues hurt the 12U girls. If you can't steal until the ball crosses the plate or the pitchers can't pitch but a certain amount of innings. It just looks like they will be behind when they go to Middle School and High School. I just wish the rules were the same for NSA,ASA,AAU,Dixie,ISA,WFC,Babe Ruth,etc... JMO:smile:
