I’ve never posted on this site, and I may never post again, but I’ve got to give a special shout out to our beloved friends and family at TFS, especially to coaches Powell, Bastian and Russell, who mentored and toiled with us and our daughters so closely over the years, treating them as if they were their own, taking them to exciting new places across the US, and helping them achieve their dreams. We are very grateful for the softball and life lessons they learned there.

Thanks also to every other group of parents and coaches who put in the blood sweat and tears to keep their organizations going. The type of progress we’ve had in NC fastpitch takes more than a single village, it takes many villages, all pulling in the same direction. Thanks to all the parents and friends, some of whom we have not even met, who took our daughters in, mended their wounds and kept them going physically, mentally and spiritually, looking after them when we had to be elsewhere, sometimes many miles away.

Softball is not subtle in the way it teaches us, both on and off the field of play. There are hard lessons to be learned along the way, but many more priceless moments. We struck out a few times as parents, and I admit I’d like to have a few of those pitches back, but our team, our coaches, parents and players have always picked us up, and watching kids reach their goals in life is truly a walk off Grand Slam! Thank you softball, thanks you TFS, thank you former teammates, coaches and parents, and thank you God for the opportunity to experience it all. I consider you all travelball classmates and hope you’ll stay in touch. - JG:N1respectHL:

JG, you should post more! You have a lot of experience and wisdom to offer the younger girls.

I was very happy to see B get signed! We have been on several of the same teams since way back in the Spinners days and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and your family. B always cracked us up no matter what was going on.

Tell B congratulations on signing and for hitting the snot out of the ball in Boulder including a grand salami and a few other HRs!

As others have said, great post! This is what it is all about.

I hope you are not going to be a stranger and will come out to some of the local tournaments to say hey from time to time. We can hang out behind the bleachers like old times. :)

    As Arnold would say...

..."I'll be back," both to here and on the field. Now that I know about this site I'll check back periodically to see how things are going. And I'll definitely be out to the fields on occasion. Hopefully someone will post tournament information here. Best regards!

Thank you very much for the kind words, Jeff. You and Penny put your trust in me to help Rebecca succeed and that means very much to me as a coach. I am a better coach for having Rebecca play for me over the last two years. As everybody that has seen her play knows, she is a great athlete, but she's also a very special person. I look for big things out of her in college. I enjoyed every minute of the time I was able to work with her and have her play for me. All the hours spent over the last two years were worth every bit of the time and energy. I think she lived at MVP!!! She was there everyday practicing whether I could work with her or not. The time and effort she put into the game the last two years definitely paid off more ways than one. She's always been a solid hitter, but she really brokeout this summer. I wish her the best!!!
