A sincere "Thank You" to all the teams that made this past weekend a huge success. The college representation was fantastic. There were near 50 colleges in attendance.
The play was the best I have seen lately. A lot of very close games with very few blowouts. Says a lot for the level of play from our kids in NC, VA, and SC.
Bracket winners were Cape Fear Storm White, Carolina Attitude-McDowell, Carolina Diamonds-Purple, Carolina Crush, SC Elite, Smokey Mtn. Sting, Carolina Cardinals-Red, Cape Fear Storm-Purple, Hurricanes 16U, Charlotte Cobras, Coastal Marlins. Congrats to all the winners.

A very special "Thank You" to Larry Woodall and Upper Deck for sponsoring our tournament and supplying the Mizuno and Easton bats given to each bracket winner.
Thanks again for your support of the 2009 Carolina Cardinals Late Summer Showcase.

As my first forray into witnessing a showcase here in the Carolinas, since moving here the week before, I would have to say:

it seemed like a well run tourney. I know things arent always perfect and all, we all been there. But things seemed timely, give or take calls, I have seen waaaaay worse. The fields held up even through the Friday rains. The parks I got to visit were nice to be at.

Personell running the show seemed to be everywhere and almost "on demand". thats almost something new for me, lol. they were polite when questioned and answered everything I heard.

Saw some fanfair as some kids ages out. My daughter didnt know what to make of that.

Got to meet a bunch of folks I been hangin here on tbr with in person which was fun for me as I am a chatter box for sure.

In general I saw a lot of good ball playing, a lot of kids having fun, more polite discussions and plenty of college coaches walkin around and I dont hardly even know most of the schools here yet.

Hope we get to see more,,,,soon.

    Bracket Winner Correction

I owe a couple of teams an apology. There was a scoring error in the I Pool score sheet.
I had listed the Charlotte Cobras as the winner when in fact the Capital City Shockers won the pool. Both teams went 4-1 in the pool. Congrats to both teams on a great weekend.
