Ragsdale got off to a slow start tonight. Fumbled away the first possession then went three and out on their second. Got the first break when Billy Stone recovered a fumble on a punt return which Ragsdale turned into a TD on a Luke Heavner to Luke Sonricker 8 yard TD pass. Kasey Redfern with the PAT for a 7-0 first quarter lead. Ragsdale defense was real solid keeping Southern from gaining any headway but Ragsdale couldn’t get on track offensively.

They looked to have a second score on a receiver screen pass from Desean Anderson to Sonricker down to the goal line but the ball was stripped and Southern recovered. It looked like Southern was going to run the clock out but Ragsdale D line crushed Southern in the backfield and Cedric Ellison recovered the fumble. Took Ragsdale one play to score as Heavner found Anderson in the end zone for a 14-0 lead with nine seconds in the half.

Ragsdale finally found a little groove in the second half. D’onovan Smith had some big runs down the field and Heavner punched it in from a yard out for a 20-0 lead. Ragsdale D fell asleep in the third as Southern went 40 yards on a fake punt for their only score. Warren Scott made the run and he is one of these tough little water bug backs that gets lost behind his line and uses his speed to his advantage. But Ragsdale got the score right back on a 13 yard end around by Sonricker. The 26-7 lead as the third quarter wound down brought out the Ragsdale second unit for the fourth.

Ragsdale D, even the third stringers played very tough in the fourth, forcing another fumble which lead to a Garrison Herndon one yard sneak. Big play of the drive was a 28 yard completion to big Teyquan Roberts (TuTu). Roberts is a 6’4” power forward on the b-ball team and I’m very glad to see him out on the field. Ragsdale final score was on a 65 yard Chris Armwood punt return. Armwood had great blocking all night on returns.

Unofficially Heavner was 9-14 for 119 yards and two TDs in the air and one on the ground. D’onovan Smith had 120 yards on 11 carries. Desean Anderson had six catches for 88 yards and a TD. Luke Sonricker had 2 catches for 47 yards with a TD and a 13 yard rushing TD. The defense was led by just about everybody. Too many to name them all.

Huge game next week with Dudley coming to town. Ragsdale will have to play a lot better, no mistakes if they want to beat the Panthers.

Cougars dominated the game holding Davie County to less than 90 yards offense. Cougars had a 96 yard drive that led to NO points. Davie has some elite athletes but have some problems on the O Line. Good win for AC, nice to win a close game for a change.

    Richmond County - 27
    Char. Providence - 17

We moved the ball well-the running game looked great. We can be passed on. Lee County at home next week.

That game really surprised me when I heard the score. Seems the Salisbury Post overrated Davie by a long shot. Doesn't bode well for them when West Rowan comes calling in a couple weeks.

They again have some athletes but it looks like they will struggle with a lot of green offensive linemen. They are even starting a true freshman up front because he in the words of one of their coaches, "he's the best we have".
