Ken Vining Returns to On Deck!

On Deck is very excited to announce that Ken Vining is returning to On Deck as a full time instructor. We are very excited to have Ken back!!!!

Experience:​

• Played at Cardinal Newman High School, led Cardinal Newman to two P. A. C. State Championships
• South Carolina career strikeout record finishing with 553
• Played at Clemson University
• Played in two College World Series
• At Clemson, was the #3 starter on the top ranked pitching staff in the country (1996)
• Named to Baseball America’s All-American Team (1996)
• Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 4th round (1996)
• Pitched in the Major Leagues with the Chicago White Sox in 2001
• Seven years of professional baseball playing experience
• Pitching Coach of the O’s 18 & under team which finished 9th at the Perfect Game/ Baseball America World Wood Bat Championships (2005)
• Pitching Coach for the 2008 On Deck O's.

 

Welcome back Ken! One of the things that makes Ken special is his relationship with the players. He has that special gift that allows him to relate well and teach pitchers their art.

He's a welcomed addition to the On Deck staff and to the players in the Charlotte area.

By the way, I noticed he played for Cardinal Newman HS. Is it the one in Columbia, SC?

Seriously, that's a trip down memory lane remembering that school. Here's a piece of factoid. The best athlete to ever come out of Cardinal Newman was the Baseball, Basketball and Football POY all in the same year...his name is Marty Woolbright; The football head coach at Ardrey Kell.
