Fat Friday No More

    East Burke vs Freedom today with none of the Fat Friday hype. This will be a good game as always do to tradition. It just seems to me the game should have been left as the last game of the year; money would have been a big enough reason. There not a conference game now, it just does not make good sense.

    Money is really a non-issue. With Freedom and East Burke divided into Patton and Draughn, the crowd will never be the same size at it was with just two schools. The crowd Friday night was pretty average(for any other game, not Fat Friday) and most of Freedom's fans fled after half-time. Sure Freedom/East Burke has a big tradition with Fat Friday but ultimately, now the game itself means nothing since they aren't in the same conference and you don't tag non-conference games on at the end of the year.

    Schedule a Burke County School Board meeting for half time, that should boost attendance.
