AC trailed by 7 at the half but fought back hard to secure this one. Mooresville, once again, was plagued by turnovers and penallties. it does'nt get any easier next week as the Blue Devils host 3A State Champions, W. Rowan.

it was a good game. i hope the Bradshaw kid is ok. the radio guy said his ankle was re-injured. sorry i missed meeting everybody. maybe next time.

    Ragsdale 42 Page 21

Well lets hope the flu bug hits Ragsdale every game if this is the way they play. Ragsdale rolled 42-21 in a game that wasn’t that close. Ragsdale dominated every phase of the game tonight playing the best all around game I’ve seen from them in a while.

Game turned on Page’s first possession as Darius McQueen recovered a fumble on the Page 47. It took Ragsdale 7 plays to score on a D’onovan Smith 7 yard run. Page would come right back though driving 80 yards to tie it up late in the first on a short pass from Summers to Collie. Ragsdale next drive would stall across the 50 and Kasey Redfern showed his punting is a weapon too downing a kick at the five. A penalty on Page negated a 3rd down conversion and Ragsdale took advantage of a short field after the punt as Luke Heavner found TE Pete Romer open down the seam for a 15 yard TD pass. Next Page drive stalled and Ragsdale wasted no time marching down field and scoring on another TD pass from Heavner to Desean Anderson from 22 yards out for a 21-7 lead with 3:33 left in the half.

Heavner was money in the first half. 9-10 for 121 yards and two TDs laying every pass right in the hands. Of course his O-line gave him all kinds of time.

Ragsdale broke it open for good on the second half kickoff as Chris Armwood showed his speed as he found the hole in the wall and busted it 99 yards down the middle of the field. Sounds like he may have been fortunate on a blown call as he may have had a foot in the end zone. 28-7 Ragsdale just fifteen seconds in. Ragsdale would score two more times over the next five minutes on a 13 yard Smith TD run with 8:54 left and another beautiful strike from Heavner to Luke Sonricker from 43 yards out with 6:35 in the third.

Ragsdale stopped Page again on the next drive forcing a punt when Page got the dumb luck play of the night. A bad snap led to a rushed squib punt that bounced about fifteen yards downfield hitting a Ragsdale player in the back right at the first down marker where Page recovered. One foot back and Ragsdale takes over – but Page would capitalize scoring on the last play of the third. Page would get one more score in the fourth on a nice 60 yard run by Summers the QB to finish the scoring at 42-21.

Just an awesome game by Ragsdale. Special teams played big. The defense forced an early turnover to get momentum and Heavner played big all night. Thanks in large part to his O-line protection he finished 13-16 for 205 yards and 3 TDs. He also ran well and scrambled out of trouble several times. His receivers continue to come up big. Anderson caught 6 passes for 90 yards and a TD and also ran 36 yards. Sonricker caught four passes for 68 yards and a TD and Pete Romer the TE caught a 15 yard TD pass. Smith ran yard and got yards when he needed them getting around 75 yards on 17 carries and 2 TDs. He also caught a 23 yard pass on a Heavner scramble. Ragdale’s running game hasn’t put up numbers all season to wow anybody but when the game is on the line and they need to move the chains they get it done.

And the defense – outstanding. They took away Page’s running game hat put almost 500 yards last week. If not for that last long TD run they would have had less than 100 on the game. Once again it was a total team effort led by everybody on D. Sparks, Stone, Ellison, Grimes, McQueen, Armwood, McNeil, Jones, Hanford, Swaim, McCoy, Lecompte and others I know I missed. They all deserve credit.

4-0 with a road game at Roxboro Person next week. After that it’s conference time.
