Jon, a freshman infielder for St. Andrews Presbyterian College, was hit in the face by a pitch today in a scrimmage against Brunswick Community College. He sustained serious injuries and from what I understand is likely out for this season. He faces surgeries and a long recovery. Please keep him and his family, as well as the players and coaches on both teams who have been affected by this, in your prayers tonight and throughout the next few crucial days. In addition, I ask that you keep the pitcher in your prayers. From all I could tell he is a truly fine young man. Lastly, I ask that you keep all our sons in your prayers as they take the field this upcoming season.

    I certainly

will say a prayer for John and thank you for posting that Buzz. It is one of those things you never want to see or hear about. We take it for granted when our kids play. But it can be a very dangerous game.

    prayer

Will remember him and all players in prayers. My son was hit in the face while pitching with a line-drive several years back. This brings back bad memories. God's speed in a full recovery...

The Central Cabarrus Baseball program sends its prayers to Jon. One of our players, Jamey Lee, had the same situation happen last spring. Glad to say that he's doing great and pitched last weekend. Good luck with the recovery. Coach Knight

Praying nightly for this young man. Absolutely the scariest thing I have ever seen when LKNBaseball's son was hit. Helpless is how I felt but he was back pitching in 5 weeks with a mask on and threw a no hitter against a very good PA team.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I hear that Jon is improving. I believe we can expect his mom to post here soon with an update. What a great place this is.

    Jonathan Wall - Update

I am Jonathan's mom, Carolyn. I want to extend thanks first and foremost, for each and every prayer lifted up for my son. He is resting well and we are going to the plastic surgeon at 1:00 today. He lost no teeth, originally they said he sustained multiple facial fractures, broken cheek bone, broken eye sockets, broken nose and has an air pocket behind his sinuses. We have been covering him in prayer and he is now able to open both eyes on his own, swelling is going down some. Ice is a Godsend! His spirits are up, he has the drive to get back up and play again. He is a believer in God and the healing power of prayer. He also knows that every day is a gift, given to him and that all of his talents and abilities are from Christ alone. Jonathan will recover in Gods time and be a testimony to the healing power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please continue to lift him up during this time and his 2 sisters as they have been devastated by seeing their brother like this. I also would like to ask that everyone please pray for the pitcher, I know that this young man did not intentionally try to hurt anyone. I know that baseball is a dangerous sport and that God will use this event for HIS glory and no one else. Praise Him for waking us all up today. In Christ,
    Carolyn Wall Manikas

Wow, thank you, Carolyn, for your testament. All of us feel a kinship to all our baseball brothers and their families. As a father of a pitcher, the occurence to Jon is something we all think about and pray that it never happens. Please know that we all have him in our prayers and look forward to seeing him "back in the saddle" again.

Thank you for your update and please keep us informed about Jonathan's recovery.

    God Bless
