How can he be so humble. You can see alot of Kevin in Madison, except the "gift of gab."

    Thanks to Kevin Bumgarner

    Thank you for sharing this.

I really enjoy watching both Madison and Rick Porcello and wonder what it would have been like to see them take the mound in Chapel Hill (and Omaha) but also realize that they are living the dream that so few ever get a chance to come true.

Baseball is such a great and wonderful game and a tremendous amount of what makes someone great in baseball also is very applicable to life - whether that be in school, work or in your relationship with friends and family.

I was fortunate enough to have the chance to get to know Kevin (as well as his umpire buddy Brad) years ago when Michael played USSSA all over the area. The first thing you notice about this man is that he is as he appears! A class and humble guy with a heart as big as an ocean. When Brad and he worked a game together, they just made the game more fun to be a part of! That's the kind of individual both he and Brad are! What you see is what you get! I am truly happy for Kevin and wish him and Madison the very best of luck! We like you too Brad, but this is supposed to be about Kevin! :headbang:

Great thread...really enjoyed it...since following Madison since he was in the 9th grade, having a son that played baseball with Madison and the baseball trips with Madison's dad Kevin to Post 29 games and high school games, I'm honored that I got the chance to experience some of his baseball youth and watch him grow into a fine young man with a great future in pro baseball. I just hate I wasn't there to see the Spartans and Madison win the NC State Title his senoir year in high school. (Working out of town...you do what you have to do). I know alot of baseball players that played baseball with Madsion that chased the same dream that he had. I kind of felt like I chased it with them....Good luck Madsion and Kevin...hope to see you both soon...Note: The last time I spent time with Kevin was this past summer over the fourth of July when I was home on vacation. We sit out in the Burger King parking lot in Hudson with the Post 29 Legion game on the radio. We had to travel to Hudson because we could'nt pick it up in Granite Falls...LOL
