Pirates Baseball

Sowers started game 2 of their fall Purple/Gold series. He threw 4 innings, gave up 6 runs (all earned), on 10 hits with 2 walks, and 2 strike-outs. He faced 21 batters.

 

while the Pirates did lose some bats they return some serious lumber (or alloy as the case may be)

Cory Thompson and John Wooten will in all likelyhood also see plenty of at bats as will JUCO transfer Daniel Warzon.

 

Well, with the players coming back + the new arrivals, I'm expecting the Pirates to be right back in a Super-Regional this coming year. The key is to get the pitching performances they'll need to go the extra step & make it to Omaha.

how a thread about ECU got to the point where people started taking shots at UNC. Calling them the Buffalo Bills for going to the CWS 4 straight years without a win. And bragging about taking 2/3 from the University of Chapel Hill of Orange County. Maybe when your program has actually done something you can talk about your program and its achievments instead of trying to run done someone else. When is the last time a school from NC has made it to the CWS other than UNC? You can take 2/3 every year and still miss your own conference tourney and will you still be happy?

First of all ECU is a rising program and in fact is an outstanding baseball program. Great coaches , tremendous facility and they are very talented. Its one of the best college baseball programs in the nation. NC State has switched its focus from recruiting more nationally and bringing in a ton of JUCO's to more of getting out there and trying to win the recruiting battles within the state of NC. Coach Hart deserves a great deal of credit for his efforts bringing in some oustanding players to NC State. I believe they are on the right track and the program is moving in a very positive direction.

I believe it is possible to be a fan of a school and pull for your school and still give credit to others when and where credit is due. When you have not been to the CWS in so long no one can remember when you went , when you have not even earned a chance to even play in your own conference tourney do you really have any credibility whey you attempt to put down programs who are where you are trying to be? I dont think so. ECU was the second best team in the state last year. They may or may not be the best team in the state this year. We will see. But until someone knocks UNC off that perch there is no doubt who is on top. Like it or not thats just the way it is.

"Its early in the game. But I have to admit he is looking really good. He just threw his first TD pass. So far I have to say he looks way better than alot of the starting QB's in the ACC. He has more TD's and passing yards in the first QTR than Russell Wilson has on the year. lol "
