1st Annual Lander University Prospect Showcase

On November 21st, 2009 the Lander University Baseball program invites you to attend our 1st Annual Lander University Prospect Showcase. We will only open this to 2010 and 2011 graduates. Players from all over the eastern part of the country will be in attendance. We will also invite several other colleges from around our area to be in attendance.

We will charge 50 dollars for the showcase. We want this to be a recruiting tool for our program and not a money maker. Each athlete will be provided with a camp tee-shirt. Our sign in time will be at 8:30 AM on the 21st. The check in area will be directly in front of the baseball field. Depending on the number in attendance the end time could vary. We will probably shoot for 2 PM for the prospect showcase to end.

The actual showcase will consist of a full evaluation, pro-style workout. 60 time, infield play, outfield range and arm-strength, Batting Practice on the field, and live bullpens. We will do a little more with the workout than most pro-styles do in order to see as much as we can of each player’s ability level.
Attached to this letter you will find the prospect showcase profile sheet. If you plan on attending, please fill out the profile sheet and either email it to me or mail it to me and send payment as soon as possible. Showcase spots will be limited. We expect to have a full roster. On return, please attach the profile sheet with a check made to “Bearcat Baseball Camp” payment will be non-refundable. You can email the profile sheet back to us. We are excited about our inaugural showcase and the fact that it will bring many talented athletes to our campus. We look forward to seeing you here.

    Sincerely,

    This is a great opportunity

for players looking to find a home at the next level. This is not a money maker event. If you are a 10 or 11 and you want an opportunity then spend the 50 bucks and get down there.

This is a continuation of their highly successful camp they held at Belmont Abbey. Coach Smith and Anderson want to stay highly visible in the NC community. They realize the quality and quantity of the NC talent.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind:

    - Lander is building a new state of the art baseball complex
    - These are two coaches that took over an obscure program and developed it into a World Series calibre program.

They are two of the finest coaches I know....quality men!

It will be well worth the trip to attend.

I met Coach Smith back during the DII World Series here in Cary. He seemed like an awesome guy and a very good coach that relates well with his players.

absolutely wonderful opportunity provided by 2 great men and coaches.

i played with Coach Anderson in college and knew then that he coaching was in his future. i learned more from playing with him and sitting in the bullpen during games than i have from many of my coaches.

met Coach Smith at Anderson's wedding and it was like he treated me like we had known each other forever. just a genuine guy that happens to be a very very very good baseball coach.

take advantage of this chance while it's available. you won't regret it.

Lander also has one of the finest Canadian pitchers playing in the Carolinas in junior right hander Ben Runyon. I'm not sure if he's working the showcase or not, but I would attend just on the chance that he might be there...
