Ball Coach I would not give up my 2 best pitchers to anyone. As I said that is out of our control.85% of my players come from my area.I don't recruit for rec ball.Like I said earlier.I have asked my TB girls to support thier own Rec Program.I believe we have to keep our own rec programs going. But losing a player to another team is not always the fault of the other team. The girls have to keep learning, and if their not progressing.Their going to leave.we have no contracts. If tryouts go well my program will be feeding and they should be playing.9 players to the Holbrook MS Team. That is my area.I will be feeding wc friday 2,and chavis 1.If the kids are not learning they will not win,and if they are not winning. They will go to where the team is winning.I hate that winning puts so much emphasis on the game. But that is how life drives us.

    NCLadyNitro,
Just to be clear, I think what you are doing it great. You are doing it right and I applaud you for that.

Because of your efforts Holbrook had their best season in years and should contend for a title next year.

If they would follow your lead in the western part of gastonia those schools could compete too.

    Keep up the good work!

Welcome Softball00........ Yep you are right 2 sides. Ok give me your side. If what was told was is true. Why should a parent have to pay 500.00 bucks for a DD to play MS ball? Does the school give anything for the kids to play? Does the MS have its own field to play at now? Does the MS supply uniforms? If a kid gets hurt playing for the MS, using the MS name on another MS field, is the kid covered by Union Co school insurance? Did the NC State athletic assoc. approve the Rec team playing public schools on school property. There are rules governing public schools, playing private or outside non-profit ORG sports teams. This may have been going on for 12 yrs and the state not knowing or maybe Union Co schools not knowing. Don't let yourself be caught blinded or having to say I didn't know that? As you said "until this yr had no major problems". So the friend I was talking too maybe correct in what he is talking about. I did not bring up all the info in my earlier statement, that I mentioned here.

I do know that my oldest played against Piedmont MS SB team and we had to play at the Piedmont REC about 8 yrs ago. It would be disappointing to hear that the Rec org up and said we are not doing it anymore. Well, there you go, no more MS ball for 12 or 15 girls. Money and budgets may be tight, but the schools in Stanly Co do support ALL the sports teams. Believe me, I want every girl to have the opportunity to play ball. Best wishes at Piedmont hope it works out......................

This sounds like one of those situations where no one wins and the kids lose!

It was 190.00 to play and up to the coach to get the uniforms. The middle school does not recinize softball as a middle school sport, so we do not get any funding for softball it is all paid through the rec. The middle school does not have a feild, and that is why the rec funds the sport. They are covered by school insurance and the park takes out a seperate policie on them to. It was approved years ago and all schools in the county are awere of it. It is no different than East union play on a marshville rec park field. The rec. will not let the program die. We are still having a middle school team. And as long as I can keep it going I will. I do not want to see a program die, or the kids lose out.

We also do the same thing with our middle school soccer program, and middle school baseball. It is all through the rec.

    curious

So any parent could pay the 190.00 bucks or what ever the cost will be, get a uniform and their DD play MS ball for Piedmont and I'm guessing they will have to go to Piedmont MS. You could have 25 girls on the team. Who says who stays and plays and who don't? If you do cut, is there a refund? This may have worked in the past. But with the way things are changing now and some parent moves into you district. Hope you don't have some parent push the issue of keeping this inside the MS.

Yes, in Stanly Co some of the schools use rec fields. I think Locust uses the rec field next to the school. Good luck..........
