PLEASE READ: CHANCE NEEDS YOUR HELP

I have a story you need to read and I really need you to THINK about each line. If you’ll humor me I promise this is for real and you will understand when you get to the end….

Imagine being part of a loving family that starts you in baseball at t-ball age

Imagine falling in love with the game and wanting to play every “Chance” you get

Imagine dreaming about having the “Chance” to play in college then the major leagues since you were ten years old

Imagine working so hard at the game you become a top level D-1 college prospect as well as being an Honor Student in addition to your skills as a baseball player

Imagine getting the "Chance" to play college baseball for your dream school in your home state

Imagine the feeling of exhilaration as you drive on to campus with your parents to check-in at your dorm and meet you roommates who are also freshman baseball players.

Imagine going through the hell week strength and conditioning practices that bond you with your teammates

Imagine playing so well in Fall practice as a freshman that you have a great "Chance" at major playing time at 2nd base

Imagine leaving a tutoring session at 10:30pm one night and jumping on your scooter to head to the dorm

Imagine the car not seeing you and turning in front off you then you crash into it

Imagine being told you have a small "Chance" to ever walk again.....

Unbelievably this is the true story of an outstanding young man named Chance Veazey who is a teammate of my son Alex at the University of Georgia and this happened almost 2 weeks ago. It has been as heartbreaking and emotional a situation as I have ever been associated with and I want you to help Chance. Help him with your thoughts, help him with your prayers, help him with a post on his prayer page on facebook, help him by posting on his caring bridge website and help him by making a donation to offset his lifelong medical expenses. Think of your son or your daughter and how Todd & Darby Veazey must handle a situation they never envisioned possible.

A website where individuals can send Chance messages and check for updates has been set up by the family. To send a note to Chance and the family, please visit:

Friends of the family have set up a “Prayers for Chance” fund to help offset medical expenses through Athens First Bank and Trust Company (AFB&T). Donations may be sent to AFB&T, attention Phil Bettendorf, Senior Vice President, P.O. Box 1747, Athens, Ga., 30603.

I have told the Veazey’s what a great baseball community we have in NC and I hope you will support this young man. SPREAD THE WORD!

    Dawgs,
I am so sorry that anyone would have this terrible accident. Can't imagine how the parents feel, but you have to pray that the young man will use his competitive drive to rehab and with the grace of God can recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Chance now has a prayer pager that buzzes every time you dial 877-876-1698 after you say a prayer for him. Try it and keep him in your thoughts

Here's an update on this amazing young man

Doctors held a press conference a few Fridays ago and announced that Chance has about a 1% chance to walk again. Keeping that in mind pls watch this tv interview with him last week before UGA stomped GT. If you're ever having a bad day just play this interview, if you ever feel like you just dont want to push through that next workout play this video. Many may feel their thoughts, prayers and well wishes dont mean anything,,,this proves they do. Its 3 min long and its important to let it play all the way to the end
