Mitchell Wheeler ( Wilson Fike) Commits to Barton!!

    Wilson Fike Senior 3B/Pitcher Mitchell Wheeler has committed to Barton College, Wilson, NC. For those of you not familiar with Mitchell, he’s Lil Karl Rocket! I usually don’t post a lot about kids who commit on this board because I honestly don’t know many of them. But, Mitchell, I know and know well. He was a teammate of my son’s for 2 years at Fike and 2 years of American Legion ball. He has bailed my son out of a lot of jams! If there was one word that describes Mitchell it would be "gamer". He’s going to do something during the game either at 3rd, at the plate, or on the mound, to help his team win. Does not get too exited when he does well or too down when things don’t go well. Just a steady, consistent player. Good student and good family. Barton got a good one and I’m happy for him and his family but even more selfishly happy that I get to see him play close to home for the Bulldogs! Congratulations Mitchell!!

    I couldn't be happier for Mitchell and his family. I've heard so many outstanding things about this young man: Character and talent. Every time I read a box score about Fike or the Wilson Bulldogs, Mitchell is always going 3-4 or 4-4.

    If he is anything like his dad, he must have a great sense of humor, too! I'm looking forward to watching him over the next 5 years--I wish him all the success, except against Wingate.

    Mitchell is as described. He is going to make the staff at Barton very happy. It is a joy and a pleasure to know folks like Mitchell and his dad. Congratulations and good luck!!

    Mitchell always had that big smile on his face after a game. You always knew he just loved playing baseball! What a great kid!

    Congrats to the Wheeler family.

    Atta Boy! Love reading about ALL of these kids who are getting a chance to continue their education AND baseball! I've seen him play several times and he's gonna have some fun at Barton!

    To those that have yet to commit, hang in there! Make some contacts, get in front of some coaches and let'em know you got what it takes and you want a chance to help them succeed while attending class!
