That is really ashame for a school to cancel a season when there are so many kids that would have loved to have the opportunity to play at the next level. I think it will be very tough to get players for the 2011 season after these 10 kids were left hanging by the school.

If I read article correctly, appears that dropping the games simply came down to fact that not enough students cared enough about their academics to remain elgible. Interesting that this problem was not realized much earlier.

I agree, it's really sad that there was that many players that were academically ineligible. As much as the players should be upset with the school for not staying on top of this, they should be equally mad at their teamates who let them down by becoming ineligible. Looks like the head coach stepped down to, and moved back home.

I've got to believe that's the nature of the beast at the JUCO level.

usually though they have enough kids to absorb this kind of stuff. How many juco's even have a so-called jv team? I've seen as many as 50 kids listed as playing baseball at a Community College. There has to be something more to this.
The shame is the loss of opportunity for some kids to continue playing ball AND getting an education.

While Louisburg has a developmental team, do not believe, Pitt, Wake, Lenoir have a second team.

Red Bear has probably got it right - can not say all of the juco players fall in this category but imagine there are players at these schools who either did not qualify out of high school or got released after playing D1,2 etc because of academics and unfortunately do not take advantage of a second chance.

Just wanted to mention here that the situation at BRCC is a little different than most JUCO's. BRCC only offers two sports in their program, Men's baseball and Women's volleyball. The baseball HC position is a "part-time" position meaning that the coach does not have fulltime interaction with his players. Not saying that this is the program's or the coach's fault, just a fact.
