    NC ASA Coaches Meeting Feb. 6th

    There will be a coach’s meeting Feb. 6th, 2010 at the Kernodle Seniors Center in Burlington at 9am. Please make plans to attend. We will go over all the registration changes and have an open discussion time to answer any questions that may arise. There will be guest speakers including Drew Petersen from Campbell Univ. We will also be providing lunch. There is no cost. This is an informational meeting for coaches.

    Free Speed and Agility Session with 2 Time Superbowl Champion Dean Hamel. This class will focus on lower body power, stability and flexibility, and core training. Times for the January 9th session are: ages 8-10 at 10am, ages 11-13 at 11am, and ages 14 and up at 12pm. This will be held at 3 Up 3 Down Baseball Academy at 351 16th St. PL SE.HICKORY,N.C.     The North Carolina Softball Coaches Association will hold its third annual free clinic for coaches on Saturday, January 30th at Marvin Ridge High School. Please visit the Association's website for schedule, info on the speakers, and driving directions.

    WHO IS ANGELA TINCHER?
    Angela graduated from Virginia Tech as one of the most decorated and accomplished pitchers in the history of collegiate softball. In her four years pitching for the Hokies she compiled an amazing 123-35 record with a sparkling 0.78 ERA. Her 2,149 strikeouts ranked third in NCAA softball history. Angela's fairytale senior season concluded with Virginia Tech's first-ever trip to the Women's College World Series and included her no-hitter against the USA Softball Olympic Team, ending that squad's 185-game pre-Olympic winning streak.

    Upstate Softball Camp

    Thanks to the over 200 who attended the camp. Although the weather man

    missed the forcast, all in all it was very productive! Remember to always

    have a focus and a target! Concentrate on the task at hand! And most of

    all have fun!!! Hopefully I will see you back at Upstate this summer!! Thanks

    to John Corn, Louis Story, Tony Genoves, Adrienne Nix, Tiffany Pitcher, and

    Sarah Hall. They did a great job helping our program with the camp!

    ARE YOU READY……
    To Start Making Plans for the 2010 ASA Softball Season?
    ALL COACHES WANTED, REGARDLESS WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE PLAYED ASA BEFORE, PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND THIS COACHES MEETING!!!
    We have scheduled our annual coaches meeting to be held Saturday February 6th at 10am at the John Robert Kernodle Senior Center, 1535 South Mebane St., Burlington, NC. Directions are below. The purpose of this meeting is to go over Buster and Randy’s 2010 tournament schedule, 2010 Queen of the Hill, 2010 NC ASA State Class B Tournament, 2010 Fall State Tournament, and 2010 Winter Regional Championship. Among the topics being discussed will be the rule changes mandated by ASA National and NC ASA background checks, individual registration and insurance. There is no charge to you for attending this meeting and lunch will be provided at 12 noon free of charge. We need to hear from you if you plan to attend as we will need a head count for lunch. If you plan to attend, you must call Buster Everette at (336) 367-7493. Please respond by Sunday, January 31st. After lunch,there will be a guest speaker-Campbell University head softball coach, Drew Petersen, at the ASA Coaches meeting. The coach will be discussing the college recruiting process and the fundamentals of hitting, along with other skills that players need when they get to the college level.

    From the West:
    -Take exit 143 - ramp will go off to the right and down the hill.
    -Turn left at the stoplight at end of ramp onto Alamance Road
    -Follow Alamance Road until you come to Main Street
    -Turn right onto Main Street
    -Follow Main St. until you come to a fork in the road
    -Bear right at the fork
    -Follow that road about 200 yards until you come to a stoplight
    -At the stoplight, turn right onto Kitchen
    -Follow Kitchen until it dead ends into Mebane Street
    -Turn right onto Mebane Street
    -Follow Mebane for a quarter to half a mile looking for a sign on the right indicating Robert Kernodle Center
    -Turn right onto that side street
    -Come to the first entrance on the left and turn into the Kernodle Center

    From the East:
