    Ill break the Ice.
Looking at the EPC 2A conference as a whole (or what I saw from last summer)
Kinston and Farmville Central would be my guess at who wins the conference. Both had very good Jr Legion Teams and for Kinston- Lovick (sorry if I mispelled) played up on the senior team.

FC had good pitching and a few guys who hit the ball very well.

North Pitt - pitt county team- coached very well and will scrap. Not sure what they lost as far as arms.

Green Central- defending champs- coached very well, with Grant and Sowers- quality arms

SWE- young- need more pitching- Have a couple of Juniors who can get the job done- the rest will be made up of athletes from the football team.

Tarboro- solid jr legion team- should make up the bulk of the varsity team. Pitching will be young. Team may have 2-3 seniors

Wilson Beddingfield- We played the wilson Jr team last summer- not sure the breakdown- probably Hunt, Fike and Beddingfield- so I do not know alot about these guys.

I would assume that the new "Carolina Nine" 2A conference will come down to a three way race between Northwood, S. Granville and Cedar Ridge. Don't know anything about Granville Central, River Mill Academy, Carrboro, DSA or NCSSM, but historically, I don't believe any of these schools have fielded particularly strong teams. There have been some good players from some of these schools, just not enough to make up a truly competitive team. The first three have, and have a number of former players at the college and pro level to show for it.

I still say it's the most screwed up conference in the state!

This was a question I also wanted to ask as my son and others are new to the Rocky River 1A/2A Conference in the southwest of the state. Due to rezoning and a new school, we were moved to Cuthbertson High School and will be playing teams like Monroe, Piedmont (moved down from 3A), Union Academy, North and West Stanley. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts about this conference and who might come out ahead. I figure the Stanleys might be tough, but I'm not sure about the others. Just wondering if anyone else had some ideas?
This is Cuthbertson's first year and we're hoping to start a strong tradition in baseball. We have some talent and a major highlight (in my humble opinion) is our new head coach - Travis Little from the Montreat Cavaliers. I know the boys have already learned a lot from coach Little and we can't wait to see where that leads us in 2010. Go figure...from the Montreat Cavaliers to the Cuthbertson Cavaliers. Something good seems to be working here.

Rocky River will be a good fit for Cuthbertson and I know some of the players you guys ended up with will make you a strong team from the outset. Piedmont and West Stanly will be the two strongest teams and Cuthbertson should be right behind them. The rest of the conference will be very weak. Monroe, Berry, CATA, U Academy, will be very weak and N Stanly and Forest Hills will be average. Just my opinion.

    Bunker Hill

Bunker Hill in Catawba county will be extremely good this year and next for that matter. I'm sure Coach Marty Curtis is looking for big things from this squad.

I agree with TBA. Bunker played Patton last year and they are tough. A talented group and young too I believe.

GMan, can you expand on your comment about being the most screwed up conference in the state. I coach baseball at Roxboro Community School and we are looking to join this conference. I know all about Cedar Ridge, Northwood, and South Granville as I have coached against some of their players in High School or Legion. I do not know anything about the other teams though. I do not want to hijack the post so you can send me a pm if that is better. Thanks
