Probably every team is different AND probably every pitcher has a program developed individually to fit their specific needs so I can only attest to the Ranger's organization and one individual......

He ended Fall instructional league last Wednesday and arrived back in NC on Thursday morning (10/15). His workout routine is listed below:
Eat, eat, eat, eat some more and then eat and if he finds the time, eat some more.

The week of the November 16th, he starts back conditioning and weight lifting according to a specified routine and exercises.

November 23rd, he starts throwing (playing catch, long tossing and bullpen work). He continues the workouts and throwing through the Winter until he reports to spring training.

Every member of the team is invited to arrive prior to their report date to get acclimated to the Arizona weather and to work with other players and Coaches. I know of one pitcher that plans on going out approximately 2 weeks early to take advantage of this opportunity.

Again, that is only one team and one individual. I have learned over the past few months, every team is different in their philosophies and that they have specific routines for individual players based on their needs. Their is no "cooker cutter" approach.

If you need specifics, PM me and I will figure out a way to share the lists....

Speaking in terms of the winter leagues, some players are recovering from surgery and extended rehab; and have not been able to play for awhile...and in some cases teams offer an opportunity to play winter ball to get in shape for the spring.

Personally, I wish all players had that opportunity in some point in their career---it's an eye opener and will allow players to understand how fortunate they are to get paid for doing something they love.

To my knowledge, most have already returned to their team's facility for their own workouts. It depended on the organization, though. Some clubs were making their players pay for hotels and expenses by arriving early, while other clubs picked up the expenses.
