Senior South Meck LHP, Michael Atz has committed to USC-Sumter. Michael is one of those players that you really cheer for. It's difficult to overcome TJ Surgery in your HS career and to be able to rehab and bust your butt to gain the attention of the college scouts is a great indication of his makeup.

Michael is one of those players that will do even better in college then HS. He has a strong work ethic, and a new arm...and is ready for business. Congratulations Michael and to his wonderful family. They are truly baseball parents that you admire.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I bet 2 years ago with your arm in a sling you wondered if you'd ever reach your dream and now you have. Way to go!

Just one question...How will a "yankee" like Dave ever make it out of Sumter alive! :laugh1:

Congrats USC-Sumter, you are getting a hard working baseball player. It makes me proud when a player that i know is getting the opportunity to get an education and play baseball. Guys in the swc if you slip up SouthMeck and Michael will kick your Atz this year. Great job Michael.

They have an air force base down there that supports the program. If Dave gets out of line, it would be target practice for them to strafe his car on the way back.:blast:

congrats Mike, USCS is getting a great kid and family. It will be fun watching this young man at full strength this spring and the next few years in college.

Linda and Dave, this means we have to meet on the deck to watch the ocean, have L.I. ice teas and crab dip to celebrate.

Sounds good to me! Linda and I are always looking for an excuse to go the the beach and enjoy the deck with you guys!

By the way fellows, I have already talked to the military and because I am a veteran, they have given me a pass for the first year!

    Congrats to a Sabre!

    Congrats to Michael!!

I got to spend a year around Michael near the time of his surgery and even when he was on the shelf he always had a positive attitude and was looking for ways to improve. He is an example of what hard work can do. Good Luck at the next Level.

    Great news!

I am so happy to hear that Michael will continue his dream of playing baseball in college, I have just become a fan of USCS baseball. Congratulations to a wonderful young man from a great baseball family. For those of you who do not know, Michael gets his likability from his mother and his baseball talent ... well that may have skipped a generation (I hear Grandpa Atz had skills in the day).

Seriously, I couldn't be happier for one of the guys I saw "grow up" at the baseball fields. Wishing you much success on and off the field.
