    Catawba defeated Pheiffer 10-6 today in their season opener and Freshman, lefty from Lake Norman High came in middle relief for Catawba and threw 3 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 BB's and striking out 3 ! Great job Nick, and a big smile for the proud parents Tom and Lesa !!!
    Keep up the good work and we are looking forward to the debut for Ross Whitley as well.:talker:

    Haha...I talked to Coach Gantt a couple of weeks ago. He said in typical Gantt fashion, "We're going to struggle this year....." The man has certainly been to sandbaggin' school!!!!!!!!

    Braves, you can't say nothing about sandbagging,,,,,, but let me tell you a good one about Gantt,,,,,, last year about halfway thru legion season, I had a conversation with him before one of our games and told him "they were pretty good",, he replied something like "he hoped his team would be ok"....... of course they wound up winning the state, the SE regionals and finished 3rd in nation.

    Truthfully Jim Gantt is one of the best baseball coaches (any level) in the Carolinas.

    I played for Coach Gantt and he is truely a baseball man. Does an excellent job of taking care of one of the classic ball parks around, in Newman Park.
