Someone give me some info on the CAP 7 for the upcoming year. It seems over the last few years the teams in this conference have been very balanced, beating up on each other in the regular season, then one or two make a deep run in the state tourney. Any and all info and/or opinions are welcome.

It was one of the top conferences around last season but my guess is that they take a step back this year. Broughton, Sanderson, and Millbrook all lost some bigtime talent, several players who were top players in the area.

Hello JM15 & travisunc -- good to be back & hear and talk about CAP 7 baseball.

In 2007, Leesville made it to Eastern Regionals, 2008 Sanderson made it to the Eastern Regionals and in 2009 Sanderson made it to the State Championship.

The CAP 7 has been well represented in the state 4A playoffs the last three years. I feel the league will be younger and thus probably down a little this year.

Sanderson (the school I know the most about! Go Spartans!). Lost 8 senior starters from last year's state runner-up squad. Three are now playing at the next level (Max Gagnon P/C UNC Pembroke, Charles Wolfe P/1B Wingate & Kyle WIgmore SS High Point). Three straight years in the playoffs. I think this will be a rebuilding year but I see them competing and making a run in 2011. Watch out for a rising star in soph. Daniel Adams, who started at 3B last year as a freshman (I hear he is playing for the Cubs).

Millbrook - lost Jake Harris P/1B (ECU) and Bryan Lincoln P/C (Louisburg). I feel they may compete for another CAP 7 conference title. LP Justin Abbot is around & the Hank twins.

Broughton - Lost Jake Kline (OF Furman), Daniel Brown (P/OF Liberty) and Michael Zeblo (INF/Davidson). I don't know how they will be this year.

Wake Forest-Rolesville -- I don't know much about them but I hear they may compete for a playoff spot. I hear they should have a stud pitcher in Silva ( I believe that is his name).

Wakefield, Leesville, Enloe -- don't know much about any of them for 2010. Maybe some one else can fill us in.

Who will be the CAP 7 team in the Eastern Regionals this year? They have had one team in the regionals the last three years. I don't believe any other conference can claim that.

Not that I am adding much to what has already been said, but Millbrook and WF-R should be the top two teams. This conference has been great the past three years, but I'd be very suprised if they have a team in the Eastern Regionals this year. I'd say Wakefield and Broughton go to the playoffs as well. Sanderson is a year away after having great success the past three years. Leesville has a solid coach but I their pitching is lacking. Enloe always seems to pull a few upsets but probably won't make too much noise in the conference.

Keep your eye on leesville this year i think they might be a bit of a sleeper team... they have a strong returning class and transfer LHP Bradley Letts should help out with their pitching problems in years past... WFR will also have a very strong team this year and should be competing for the conference championship.

Leesville should be better this year but pitching could be a problem. They will get back Sr. righty Tony Stroud who was out all last year with a back injury but Jr. lefty Logan Bible is out for the year with a shoulder injury. Leesville will only have 3 senior starters but only lost 3 senior starters off last years team. The underclassmen will have to contribute a lot for them to have a good year.
