Okay guess here is your chance to display your best practices for a snow day tryout. Any suggestions? I want to have my team made up by Friday not sure if we will be able to get out there any next week.

    Thanks

    snow practice

Act like it's not there. Play outside practice outside. I love yellow dimple balls. When you think you've got bad weather- just think you could be coaching at Watauga! I hope everybody has a great season. Spring will be here eventually!!

I don't want to overstate the amount of snow in Boone right now, but I did hear that Shawn White is discussing buying the Watauga HS property. According to his sponsor Red Bull, White wants to re-locate his private snowboard training facility from Colorado because the Boone property has more snow and a new wrinkle, trees. The proposed wooded half-pipe would be the first of it's kind, starting on the hillside just beyond Watauga's centerfield fence, down to Winkler's Creek. An anonymous source reports that the requirement that White gets a "dang haircut" may be a sticking point in negotiations.

Thday 1 of new football coach @ Mooresville actually opened the astroturf football field for day 1 of baseball tryouts. Ain't it grand when coaches work together for the good of the student athlete.

Being from the North, I'll tell you it's no big deal. You wait until the students / faculty leave the parking lot , lay out some rubber bases,
and have some infield on the asphalt. Work on bunt defenses . Use rubber balls if you have to. Let the pitchers throw on the side ... run their butts off. Work on run downs, baserunning, cut off drills, have kids hit tennis / whiffle balls of the tee.

When that gets old ... run some more.
