The Eastern Carolina 3A is one of the premier conferences in the State this year. With quite a few Eastern and State Championships in the trophy cases at most of these six schools, the winner of this conference will undoubtably be the "best of the best".

Im an old CFV guy so I know what SJ and Triton will bring to the table. Triton has a solid pitching staff led by Sr. lefty Brandon Chance (Campbell). They have about 4 or 5 sr's that can take the mound and match anybody's best on any given night. They also have a soild infield led by SS Alex Lopez (Louisburgh) and 2B Bryant Wood. They will not make alot of errors. Triton is also a good place to catch a game with great facilities. I think fans of the ECC will enjoy their first trip to Harnett Co.

SJ is led by Jr. pitcher Logan Jernigan (NC State). This kid is the real deal, and throws very hard. They have alot of experience coming back behind the plate with Josh Barefoot and in the infield led by Dillion Bass. South has all the right tools in place, as well as great coaching, to make a run in this conference.

Here is just alittle bit of what to expect from Triton and SJ. Lets get this thing rolling in the ECC. Good luck to all six teams and I look forward to some great baseball this spring!

I think state goes through RM. In my opoinion the ECC has better hitting Aycock, North Lenoir, Souther Wayne and EW. Hunt will be the best hitting team in RM conference and may win the conference. They could beat RM.

    For what it's worth------

    http://www.nextlevelbaseballinc.com/page.asp?active_page_id=566

I noticed that Next Level Baseball has the following prediction about the ECC:

    1. Eastern Wayne
    2. C. B. Aycock
    3. Triton
    4. South Johnston
    5. Southern Wayne
    6. North Lenoir

Aycock picked second here, & ranked second in the state by Impact.

apparently one of them don't know what there talking about. EW has hitting and pitching. They better find a closer and tighten up their defense. Their infield could be a problem. They lost two guys that carried their team 90 percent of the time. Aycock is overated at 2. IMO they should be around 7. If they hit like there capable could be 2. Aycock will have one of the best defenses period. NL will be better than 6.

To have a chance to win a state title or a conference title for that matter, you've got to have the pitching. You say that EW has hitting & pitching. Aycock won the 2007 State title with Davis & Sasser. How does Aycock's staff this year compare to that 07 combo, or to Rocky Mount's 2010 combo of Johnson, & Moss. Compare Aycock & Eastern Wayne's pitching staff's for us. Break it down for us.

good point Karl!!! Your right good pitching can take down hitting. Although, you also have to have some luck to win state. RM has A+ pitching arguably the best in the state. EW B+ pitching they have no closer their two starters are solid. Aycock has B+ pitching. If either team hangs around with RM they can beat them because they have hitters that can hit 90 mph. Aycocks junior legion team scored 9 runs off of Moss last summer. I know he improved though. You never know what kid worked hard in the off season that may change all predictions. Don't forget about the other teams it's not just Aycock and EW in the ECC. It is all about match-ups in the stated tournaments. Watch out for Hunt my prediction is that they will beat RM at least 1 time.

    Pitching!

I see that Triton has Brandon Chance (Campbell) & South Johnston has Logan Jernigan (N.C. State). That's two good arms from the ECC going to Division 1 schools in the future. Who are the top 2 throwers from Aycock, EW, North Lenoir, and Southern Wayne, and where are they headed to college in the future?

    1. Eastern Wayne
    2. C. B. Aycock
    3. Triton
    4. South Johnston
    5. Southern Wayne
    6. North Lenoir

I would say the top 4 could finish in any order, whichever one is carrying the 4 leaf clover.

SW and NL will finish on the bottom.
