    Cuthbertson HS Baseball

Cuthbertson HS won it's first game as a new member and new school of the Rocky River 2A Division over Forest Hills 6 - 1. Peter Hendel (Jr. - LHP) threw all 7 innings with only 2 hits. Not really sure about the strike out or walk count, but the K's were pretty high. Preston Morrison was strong at the bat and helped with the RBI's. Everybody else contributed towards the win and the I really liked the aggressive play from Travis Little. Glad to see opening day come and gone. Baseball season is finally here!

    Hoke County Baseball

HC LHP - Ronald Womack.....he was throwing 88-89 mph with good movement. 12-6 curve ball; unhittable! Learning a new pitch; change up!He gave up three runs in the first inning due to several passed balls. The catcher had a new mitt and couldn't catch the ball. First batter reached first on a strike out and passed ball. Next batter layed down a sac butt. Passed ball, runner advanced to 3B. Next batter hits a ball to third base and he threw it home....catcher dropped the ball. The batter reaches first and run scores. Next batter is walked. Another passed ball and runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd. Passed ball, runner scores and the other runner moves to 3rd. Batter strikes out. Next batter is walked and runner scores from 3rd on another passed ball. Next batter strikes out. It was unbelievable how many times the ball bounced off the catchers glove.

In second inning, the first batter gets a hit on a change up. Womack strikes out the next three batters but runner scores on three passed ball before the strike outs.
Womack is pulled in fifth inning after a walk and the 2nd hit of game.

    4+ innings pitched, 2 hits, 3 walks, 1 ROE (k), 1 HBP, 4 runs (0 earn), 12 K's. Womack leaves game with a 11 to 4 lead.

Hoke County has a real good hitting team. Not sure about the defense though, only saw three balls put in play, two for hits and one for a fielder choice. Need to find someone to catch Womack! Womack will be tough to beat this year if they do! Only thing he needs to work on is becoming a pitcher instead of a thrower. It appears that he just slings it and doesn't know where it's going.

NWC loses to Carson 6-1. Starting pitcher for Carson (Park) had NW batters baffled for 5 innings. NW commits 3 errors early in game allowing Carson a 5 run lead. NW will have to limit errors to virtually zero and get alot more aggressive at the plate to have a shot at contending in the SPC. Hopefully, they will have a better showing at home Thursday vs. Mooresville.

    Hopewell 8 West meck 7:
Hopewell wins a close one against a very scrappy w. meck team. A big loss for the Titans though. IN the 4th inning shortstop michael Russell breaks his leg when he collides with a Hawk base runner.(very nasty break)he must have waited atleast 45 min on EMS.(unbelievable).Hopewell gets the win behind Hunter Conley and Keith Prowse on the bump.Conley goes 3 innings and leaves the game with a 7-5. Prowse would take over starting the 4th. Prowse would keep the Hawks guessing as he strikes out 6 batters allowing only 1 earned run the rest of the way.Offense for the Titans was Russell going 2 for 2.(2b,1b).Prowse 2 for 4.(3b,1b).Whitecavage 2 for 4.Several others would scatter hits.RBI's Auten 2, Prowse 1, strickland 1, Whitecavage 1, Himler 1.

    Watauga vs Mount Tabor

    Watauga 8
    Mt Tabor 1

    WP: Cal Hardee 7 IP, 0 ER, 6 K
    LP: Collin Macintosh

    Watauga
    Max Linnville: 3-5 HR
    Baker Stanley: 2-3
    Cal Hardee: 2-3 HR, 2B
    David Martin: 1-3 2B
    Josh Wyant: 1-4 2B
    Josh Roberts: 2-4 2B

    Tabor
    Bradley Morton: 1-2 2B
    Matt McConnell: 1-3 2B

Bats came alive tonight for Watauga. Mount Tabor struggled at the plate and the pitchers weren't hitting spots. The three hitter for Tabor had a double and showed a good swing at the plate. Good start for Watauga.
