If it is just cold at least you can still play. Starting the season in February we have to cancel games EVERY year due to snow. Already cancelled two this year due to snow. August and September the weather is great and it is not that cold in October and November and snow is not as likely either. I think going straight from summer ball into school ball the girls would be in shape and at their peak. School ball is not as competetive as travel ball and every year when the girls come out of school into travel it takes a couple of weeks to get that high school mentality out of their system so it makes more sense to me to go from travel to high school instead of high school to travel. jmo

Maybe I'm crazy but it seems that high schools actually coach more than travel ball. Let's see I don't see high school stopping after an hour and a half or hour and fifteen minutes. It's kinda like the college game. They play the whole game. Hello

TB and HS can not be compared. There are a ton of HS programs that are extremely competitive. Every year high level HS games across NC will pack in hundreds of fans... sometimes 1000 or more. Rivalries among schools like Alexander Central, North Davidson, Central Davidson, Ledford, Southwest Randolph, and others do it every year as do the state playoffs. TB does not attract fans like that, not because its better or worse, but because its different.

I'm not trying to compare hs and tb because you are right there is no comparison. There are plenty of serious hs programs out there but there are just as many that are just there to exist with a teacher who knows nothing about softball as a coach. My point is that it would help the many hs programs that are just existing for the girls to come in fresh out of competitive tb. Unfortunately we all do not have programs like Alexander Central and North Davidson. Believe it or not there are still programs out there where the coach is sitting in the dugout eating cheetos while the girls are conducting their own practice. Also, still not cancelling games due to snow in October. Our game today has been cancelled again because they can't find the field under all the snow.

Yep, maybe you are.:stoned2: Just some food for thought. How many girls that just play high school ball with no tb go on to play at the next level? Can a girl that just plays tb with no hs ball go on to play at the next level?

Did not want to start a debate betweem TB and HS. I coach both and there are differences, nuff said. I would just like to get opinions on this matter. We already have 2 cancelled games and Friday's game looks questionable. The fields down east are soaked and the effects of any amount of rain/ snow is magnified ten fold. I JUST WANNA PLAY BALL !!!
