we live very near Concord Mills Mall on the Concord/Charlotte line and my 16 year old son plays for the varsity at the new Cox Mill High School. My question is, what legion post would we need to contact for this spring/summer's try outs....any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

According to Mapquest, figure out in exact mileage from your home (not his HS) how many miles it is to A.L.Brown High School (Kannapolis Legion base), Lake Norman High School (Mooresville Legion base), North Mecklenburg High (Huntersville Legion) and Concord High School (Concord Legion).

Whichever base school your the closest to even if only by one-tenth of a mile, thats where you should play.

Let me know your results, I'm curious. Thanks.

I was wondering what legion program most of the Cox Mill students would fall in,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but bottomline it doesn't matter where you attend high school, what matters is your permanent home address, so some of the Cox Mill students may also play for Kannapolis or Concord legion.

In your case, it appears your son should play for the Huntersville Legion team. I'm sorry I don't have any contact info for those folk at this time. Let me see what I can find out,,,,,, in the meantime, you can send Dbacks20 a private message, he's pretty up on the Meck legion programs.

Also athenry22, remember one very important issue, because Cox Mill HS is a new HS, all legion programs must stay within a 5000 student limit. Therefore, I dont' know the numbers at Huntersville legion, but they may very well be maxed out to the extent that they cannot take in players from another HS. If that happens, then you would automatically go to 2nd closest legion team, and so on.

Personally I would like to see the Cox Mill players with Kannapolis legion, because Kannapolis has room for them (only drawing from ALB and NW now), but Cox Mill players will have to look at the mileage and check the other programs mentioned.

Remember that you have to play for the legion team nearest to your home physicial address, not a PO BOX. That team must be able to carry your enrollment. If they can't they must grant you a release then you go to the next legion team that can take Cox enrollment. You just keep going and someone will be glad to have your son. Be SURE that you get a release.
Also when using Mapquest be sure to look under options on map page a check SHORTEST route not quickest.
For Concord Call Tim Furr at 704-888-0443 or 980-521-8828
For Kannapolis call Roger Bigham-704-932-0294 or 704-467-3606
    Good Luck to your son
