Please don't forget to register for the softball State Games. I have been involved with this event the last two years and I can't express how much fun this is and the quality of play is unbelievable. Last weekend I went to the Winthrop addias Invitational, at Rock Hill, and was surprised to see how many of the girls there played in the State Games.

    Don't miss this!!! Photos too!

Shucks! We signed up for try outs and then checked the dates...crazy huh?! My daughter has the ACT on the first try-out date then the second is senior week, she had made plans to go to the beach. I hate to ask her to give up her trip- she has always put softball first! It would always be "sorry I have softball" and never even thought twice about it. Do you think she could go late to try outs on the 10th of April? This would be for the senior west team.

Hey Look At This Way !!

ACT is very important, but the senior trip @ the beach with all those raging hormones isn't. I have heard of more kids especially girls test the waters when away from mom and dad at Sin City Myrtle Beach, at least at the tryouts she want get into trouble...JMHO !!!:reb:

Don't ask her to give up her senior trip for the State Games. It is not worth it. She will be disappointed. Her senior beach trip with her friends is a once in a lifetime.

    Once in a lifetime......

It is obvious to me that you have never had one of those medals placed around your neck

If you talk with the coaches it may be possible to work something out. Coaches are flexible. Of course, there may be some whining because some of the parents didn't get to see you try out. But the coaches should be making the decisions anyway. Of course there is an advantage when you tryout and practice with your peers.

Also, keep in mind that the coaches may already have been observing you during the season.

    I Would Venture To Say--

He or she has never been down to Myrtle Beach during this times, when all the under aged drinking:EMOSTVomitIntoTheTo is going on. Right there @ The Magic Attic sets the police paddy wagon just full of teenagers that get out of hand...much rather have a medal of integrity than a record of shame....But hey what does a person that lived 70 miles from Myrtle Beach know anyways..

It is obvious to me that you are talking from a man's point of view. If those medals only meant half as much to the girls as they do to their dads. I have got boxes and boxes of medals and trophies packed up in the attic with no place to put them. I've even found medals in the bottom of my kid's batbag a year after the fact. I asked my kid if she had a choice to get a medal for a softball game or go to the beach senior year with her friends...guess what she said, and she loves softball but it doesn't consume her entire life like most dads would like to think. Now maybe if you had only gotton one medal in your lifetime it might be big but most of these girls have got more medals than their moms have boxes to put them in.

I guess if you don't trust your kid to do the right thing then make them stay home and play softball, but if you can't trust them in June how are you ever going to let them go off to college by themselves in August?
