and after the ashbrook coach spoke to the ref, the ref decided the ball hit the player. and the ref had to tell the player he was hit by the pitch.

when was the last time you got hit by a ball in any sport and had to be told you got hit?

and the rule - as enforced during the JV game by the same umps - player has to make an attempt to move out of the way

I admire a player that didn't want to walk, but hit.

    HBP 2

MP/AK game last night the plate umpire had to ask for help from field ump on HBP, never mind that the plate ump called it a strike.

Stretch, by rule, if the plate calls the pitch a strike, would not the HBP become irrelevent because the hitter must have been in the strike zone to be hit?

    MP v. AK

Possibly due to extra large strike zone?? But he did call it a strike.

BTW - Nice save on the scoring of the ball hit to 3B from hit to error; after seeing you in press box figured it may be corrected; albeit for naught later.

    Strange happening

Ok if the pitch is in the strike zone and hits the player obviously he should not be allowed to go to first base as the batter cannot interfere with the strike zone!!

Based on where the catchers glove is; how can this be a strike??

Look in front of the catcher's mitt. Appears to me that the ball hit the ground before being caought by catcher... HMMMMMMMMM...

He wasn't saying this incident was a strike..that was Mincimi, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were true...he's a ref!

no, originally (before ashbrook coach came down the line) this was ball 2 after a 1-2 pitch.
