If a player starts the game as either a DH or EP can that player be put into the game as a pitcher?

    Rule 3-3 Article 6- e.

The DP may play defense at any position. Should the DP play defense for a player other than the FLEX, that player will continue to bat but not play defense, and is not considered to have left the game. The DP may play defense for the FLEX and the FLEX is considered to have left the game, reducing the number of players from ten to nine.

There is no "DH" (Designated Hitter) or "EP" (Extra Player) in high school softball. The "DH" occurs in baseball and the "EP" is a travel ball thing. The "DP" (Designated Player) is often mistakenly called a "DH", but the two are completely different. When used in a softball lineup, a "Designated Player" is always used in conjunction with a "Flex" player. Pop's and Crushers posts explain it well in great detail. Its a great innovation for the game.

I can relate with you on this. Our H.S coach sits my DD on the bench and gives her no feild time.He doesn't bat her she has a .571 avg. She does bat every game but he hasn't a clue of her potential. It seems like daddy ball in our school to the point where she told me that next year she will go cross country instead of softball. His lost not hers.
