I wonder if it's a carryover from EM's win Tuesday night. They now know they can win in the SW4A. I must say that's a strong win for the Eagles...and Olen Little is tough.

But despite the loss it's been a long time since SM has been in 1st place. Says a lot about the players and Coach Tuscan. Congratulations and keep it up

Dang Coach...I know it's the players and the coaching, but I forgot to tell you those uniforms were handmade by these little Irishmen. They sewed in little lucky charms in a secret place.

Outstanding the first half of the season. Keep it going!

    Providence 4-1 over Kell

Zach McKelvey pitched a great game tonight for Providence, allowing 5 hits and 1 unearned run. Ryan Butler pitched 5 for Kell allowing just 3 hits, but two homeruns, a solo shot to Campana, and a 3 run shot to Fincher, after two walks. Lover threw the 6th for AK, and blew the doors off, striking 2-3 but the damage was done.

Both teams played well defensively, Kell continues to struggle to get a key hit. Looks like guys are trying to hit 5 run homers.

McKelvey was simply better tonight, he pitched a heck of a game.

    For AK
Ratlege 2 hits, Reinheimer, Patterson, and Shelton 1

    For Providence
Campanna HR, Fincher HR, Rothman single

good game by both teams, score is misleading to how the game actually went... should of been a 2-1 ball game minus a couple mental errors.

    Scotland 6 Richmond 5

Scotland wins in dramatic fashion....with bases loaded, one out and down 5 to 3....starting pitcher Curt Britt (Scotland) steps up to the plate and drills the second pitch to the wall in left center field for a stand up game winning 3 RBI double.
Ricky Holden was the losing pitcher for Richmond....he had pitched a real good game in front of two UNC-W coaches.....he had made one mistake in the 6th, where he served one up for Curt Britt and he placed it over the right center wall for a solo HR. He then gave up three singles in the top of the seventh; two bloop shots and one infield hit until making a mistake to Britt again. Holden gives up eight (8) hits (four in seventh), two walks, one HB & one reached on error, Six runs with 7 K's in 6.1 innings.
Curt Britt didn't have his best stuff on the mound but he completed all seven innings, giving up five runs on eight hits, two hit batters, two walks and three K's (2 in seventh). His catcher didn't help him any tonight, where he had numberous passed balls; ball popping off his glove.
    Scotland 6
    Richmond 5
    Leading Hitters Scotland
    Curt Britt 2-4, HR, 2B, 4 RBI, 2 runs, ROE, K
Derrick Barnes 2-4, ROE (beat out a infield hit in the seventh)
    Alex Fricke 2-3,
John Yarbough & Chase Bullock had the other two hits in game.
    Leading Hitters Richmond
    Chanler Connors - 3-4, 2 runs
    Cory Wallace 2-4 run, RBI
    Alex Dockery 2-3, run
    Jeremy 1-3, RBI

    EM v SM

Not only was Olen Little dominant tonight for the Eagles, but EM pounded out 14 hits up and down their order. East broke the game open in the 4th inning, putting 5 runs on the board. With the score 1-0 , the Sabres walked David Daniels to put 2 men on board. Jackson Reisterer made South pay by hitting a double to clear the bases. Leighton Daniels and Lou Trosch then followed suit with doubles of their own. The Eagles never looked back from there and Little cruised to the win. Watch out for Eagles' freshman Logan Sherer, who contributed another big hit following his contributions in EM's win against Providence.

    Kannapolis - 2 Mt. Pleasant - 1

This was a great game to watch, if you like pitching. John J Tuttle for Kannapolis went 7 complete allowing 1 unearned run on 5 hits and struck out 8 (Tuttle has allowed 2 ER in 30-1/3 IP). Anthony Allende went 5 innings for MP, allowing 1 Run on 3 hits and 5 K's. Grayson Atwood takes the loss, allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth, when MP scored to take a 1-0 lead. Kannapolis answered in the sixth, to tie it at 1 all. After a Garrett Welch double, with 1 out, pinch hitting Tyler Freeze singles to CF, which was misplayed and allowed Welch to score. Tuttle retired MP in order and ended the game on a strike out looking.

    Kannapolis 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 = 2 6 3
    Mt Pleasaant 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 = 1 5 4

    Kannapolis Hitters:
    Tyler Freeze 1-1
    Garrett Welch 2-3 (Run)
    Zach Jones 1-4 (Run)
    Justin Kidd 1-3 (BB)
    John J Tuttle 1-3

    Weddington vs Sun Valley

Wow! What a difference a couple days makes. Weddington wins 13-0. Tues. SV jumped on Weddington early and held on for the win. Last night Weddington pounced on SV early and often. In the first Honeycutt lead off with a double, followed by two singles. Then with two outs Weddington hit three consecutive doubles to post 5 runs in the first. In the third, three home runs; Honeycutt HR, Bostic had a 2 run HR, then Newsome followed that with a 3 run HR!! (After going to the store for more balls the game continued.) Weddington was up 11-0 after three innings. Weddington added two more in the 4th for a total of 13 runs. Weddington posted a total of 18 hits on the night.

Newsome has another solid win on the mound for Weddington blanking SV. Several opportunities presented themselves for SV, but the defense stood strong and did not allow a run to cross.

Weddington is looking strong for the East Meck Tournament starting Tues.
