Last I heard Cary was playing WFR but not sure why an 0-2 would play a 2-0.

    My guess:

I don't know. If anyone else knows for sure it would be great.

For the third day, they try to schedule teams who will not see each other during the year except for championship

sounds like that Ragsdale - Millbrook game was a doozy.

Courtesy of Mike Ellis Jamestown News:

After splitting the first two games at the Bobby Murray Invitational Tournament at
the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, Ragsdale won a wild one on Saturday, coming from
behind twice to pull out a 13 – 12 win over Raleigh Millbrook.

Ragsdale got an early lead in the third inning, going up 2 – 1 on a Walt Sparks two
run home run over the left center field fence. DeSean Anderson, who had singled,
    scored ahead of Sparks.

Millbrook bounced back in the bottom of the third, plating 5 runs and then added a
single run in the fourth to take a 7 – 2 lead. Ragsdale would rally in the top of
the fifth as they would score 8 runs. Trey Swaim got things started with a single
up the middle and Anderson would get hit by a pitch. Ben Fultz would drive in two
with an opposite field double and he would score when Sparks followed with a line
drive off the pitchers foot that would carom into left field for another double.
Kyle Morrison drove in two more later in the inning with a single that just got by
the shortstop as Ragsdale would go up 10 – 7.

Millbrook battled back scoring a single run in the bottom of the fifth and then
picking up three more in the sixth on four singles and a costly Ragsdale error to
    take a 11 – 10 lead.

Coming to the plate for their final at bat, Ragsdale loaded the bases on two walks
and a hit batter. Millbrook got two outs and Fultz came to the plate as the final
opportunity for the Tigers. He took the first pitch and lined it into right field
to drive in two runs. Walt Sparks would follow with a double down the left field
line to drive in one more and Ragsdale was up 13 – 11.

DeSean Anderson came in to pitch the seventh and was greeted by back to back hits, a
double and a single. A sacrifice fly drove in one run to get the Wildcats within
one, but Anderson settled down and got a strike out and got the last out on a pop up
to short to pick up the save in the wild 13 – 12 win.

Walt Sparks, Zach Hodges and Tyler Southcott all preceded Anderson to the mound for
the Tigers. Southcott picked up the win after pitching the sixth inning. Justin
Abbott went 6 1/3 for the Wildcats giving up all 13 runs in a 126 pitch outing.

Walt Sparks was 3 for 5 for the Tigers with a HR and two doubles, driving in 4 runs
and scoring 2 runs. Ben Fultz was 2 for 4 with a double and a single with 2 RBI’s.
Mike Whited also had 2 hits and was on base all four times at the plate with a walk
and a HP. Ragsdale improves their record to 9 – 2 with the win and are now off
until Thursday when they travel to East Forsyth for a key Piedmont Triad Conference
    matchup.

When I got to the park on Friday, I noticed DeSean Anderson on the bench late in the game. This was the day Ragsdale went down to East Wake. Any info on why Anderson was not in the game?

Thanks to Ragsdale for making the trip. It was fun having a team of that caliber come for the weekend and mix things up a little.

DeSean made a throw from center in the Thursday game and felt something in his arm and he came out immediately. he could only DH some on Friday. he got treatment over the weekend and was able to play Saturday.

We enjoyed being invited to the event. Good to play some teams you don't normally see. Although we may not let our kids go to the beach until after the baseball next spring break.

I normally don't say much but the umpires for the Ragsdale/Millbrook game had a bad day. But it was a bad day for both teams. Strike zone was consistently inconsistent. My son was catching and said it was the worst crew he had ever worked with. Pitches would split the plate and be a ball and a pitch 4-6 inches off was a strike. Again, it was both ways. I thought the Millbrook crowd was going to kill the guys. Rowdiest group we have been around. Not only can they ride an ump with the best of them, they even ride the opponents players. We watched them do the same thing the day before however in their defense, they had the same umpire crew.

Two plays summed it up. Ragsdale batter at the plate, squares to bunt, pitch hits him on the hand and he did not attempt to pull the bat back. He attempted to bunt. Ump said the ball hit him on the arm and gave the runner 1st base. Milllbrook went nuts, as they should. 1st, the ball hit him on the hand instead of the arm (I don't think that matters) but batter attempted to hit the ball. After minutes of screaming the home plate ump gets help from the field guy and sends the batter back to the plate, as they should. Meanwhile Millbrook 1st baseman was screaming at our running and telling him to go back and nudging him off the bag.

Then the next pitch, with 2 strikes on him the batter attempts to bunt again (bases were loaded and 2 strikes). Batter fouls it straight back. Umpire calls, foul ball. Well I think everyone in the joint knew that a fouled ball on a bunt attempt with 2 strikes was an out. Yet he never would call him out. So the batter stayed there and the pitcher gets ready to throw another pitch. Again, field ump is asked for help and they call him out. Also there were 2 times where the home plate ump called guys out on strikes with only 2 strikes on them. Each time the field guy stepped in and corrected the situation. It got to the point that I felt bad for the guys.
