Then my original choice would stand -

I would have my pitcher throw another drop, but well (1-2 ball widths) off of the outside of the plate.

I would definately NOT have her throw a rise, if it hangs anywhere in the zone it is probably GONE!!! It seems like the batter is struggling with a low pitch. The outside drop will hopefully get her to chase for the K, if she doesn't she needs another drop way on the inside that hopefully she swings at and fouls off or gets the K, THEN I would have the pitcher throw the exact same pitch that got the first 2 strikes.

KO's dad said she had a rise ball which means she does not let it hang. In the 10 years I have been working with pitchers I have seen more K's on a 0-2 or 1-2 count produced by a rise (or high fastball) than all other pitches combined.

That may be true, but I am pretty sure that KO's dad asked for everyones opinion, not just yours. Mine hasn't changed.

The a lefty a screwball a foot outside. to a righty a curveball a foot outside. if they chase they will never hit....if they look then they are expecting a strike on the next pitch and you call a rise ball. if you have a good pitcher the batter is out.

Yep . . . throw the 'high school' rise ball

Most HS hitters can't resist it. And that becomes the problem. HS pitchers fall in love with it. Then they get to college and two things happen, the strike zone shrinks and batters will not swing at something in their eyes. They bring it down just a little and the next thing you know the batter is jogging the bases.

I agree with you Dukedog 100 %. Even in the upper levels of TB (ASA showcase) it doesn't work. Batters are too disciplined. But we are talking HS ball aren't we KO's dad ?

if the pitcher has a true rise ball that jumps and not a fast ball that goes high then that rise ball is effective at all levels.....if it doesnt have the jump then you are delivering a home run pitch.
