Ardrey Kell 3 South Meck 2 in 11 Innings

Great game - back and forth all night waiting for the timely hit.

Ended with 2 South Meck runners on base and 2 outs when Trevor Hovis hit a bullet up the middle - but Logan Ratledge dove to his right side to snare the grounder and came up throwing to get Hovis out at first and end the game.

    - Harrison Hood for South threw very well surrendering only 2 runs.
    - Caleb Cunningham came in for relief and threw extremely well until AK pushed the winning run home in the 11th.

    - Ryan Butler only gave up 2 runs in 4+ innings and looked good.
    - Alex Baker pitched 4 innings and gave up no runs and was replaced on the mound when he pulled a muscle while hitting in the ninth.
    - Ashton Lover came in to get the win pitching very well for the last 3 innings surrendering no runs.

    Hickory Ridge - 5 Kannapolis - 4 (9 Innings)

This was game you hate to see either team lose, Kannapolis built a 4-0 lead going into the 6th, with John J Tuttle on the mound. Hickory Ridge led off the 6th with a hard hit single to LF that bounced over the fielders head for a triple, the catcher hits an RBI double and scores on a single, score 4-2 after 6. The bottom of the 7th started off with error at SS on a really tough hop and then the play or should I say call of the game... ball played by the SS, who tosses to second for force and umpire calls him safe, said his foot was off the bag. After a force at second and a strikeout Tuttle was lifted for Dylan May, with runners at 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs and a 4-3 lead. The catcher was put on to load the bases and the next batter walks on 4 straight pitches to bring in the tying run. The "Wonders" had chances, but failed to take advantage to put Hickory Ridge away. Credit to their team for sticking around and to their pitcher who gave up 3 hits and 1 ER. Two things about their field, the infield is like concrete and the fielders are looking into the sun until it sets. And if there's a softball game on the field behind you, look out for foul balls. Great game to both teams!

Apex had a couple bombs. The win for Apex keeps their playoff hopes alive and barring a miracle ends Cary's hope.

    Cary vs Sanderson tonight

Thomas Allen dominated a potent Carson (14-4) lineup that is ranked in the Top 10 in the state by tossing a no hitter on Tuesday night. East Rowan moves to 16-1.

    Butler 6 Myers Park 3

The Butler Bulldogs found another unusual way to win last night, and it all happened with two outs in the fourth. After a two out walk, Anderson hits a moon shot to short left field that the entire outfield loses in the lights. I promise you, I was just talking to everyone how twilight at Jack Sink is very
deceptive. I remember the lighting in the past at dusk being difficult, and sure enough the ball lands 20 feet between the left and center fielder. Well Hodge
scores and Anderson ends up on third as he should. Hibbard then singles him home and the rally is on. The game was marred by some of the worst officiating in recent memory. Both sides suffered from a lost strike zone and untimely bad calls all over the field. Both bleachers went back and fourth with cat calls to the umps and each other. By the end it was rather comical. Two hours and fifty minutes of what the............ Congrats for to for timely hits and solid pitching by McMahon and Mas.
