    East Meck v AK

    AK 001 000 1 2 6 1
    EM 101 010 X 3 8 0
    Records: EM 15-6, 6-4 AK 14-7, 7-4

    WP Olen Little (5-2)
    LP Ryan Butler (2-4)

East Meck wins a well played game at Coach Dave Jones Field. Eagles 2nd Baseman Jackson Reisterer made good on all 10 defensive chances he had, including the game's final out, and ripped a double before scoring the go ahead run on a squeeze play. Leighton Daniels was 3-3 on the night and made a spectacular leaping catch at shortstop. For AK Cody Shelton robbed the Eagles of a couple of hits and was 1-3 at the dish. Trent Thornton chipped in two doubles and Brett Lang had a great at bat, which culminated in a single to start a 7th inning rally that just fell short. On the hill, Olen Little held the Knights at bay all evening. The Field of Dreams was rocking tonight and the SW4A just keeps getting tighter going down the stretch.

The winning pitcher, Wes Dumford '10, from Mooresville also pitched a gem, again. 5 hits, 1 earned run, 6 strikeouts and 1 walk against the hot bats of Hopewell. The Blue Devils played flawless defense behind him, again, with no errors committed. The run scored was a Double followed by a check-swing blooper at the feet of the left fielder. Looks like a line drive in the score book, though. Wes is something like 36 and 5 between school ball and Legion ball for the last 4 years and has won some big games with these Blue Devils behind him. Jacob Mays comes up big, again, with a base hit up the middle with runner in scoring position for what would be the winning run early on. He has been "money" with runners in scoring position in the last 2 years and doesn't get near the recognition he deserves. Plays flawless defense at 2nd base, too. Way to go Blue Devils! Keep it going, boys!
