Not in the women's line of cleats yet... supposed to be available later this year. Unless you want to wear men's cleats.

    Wmen's Cleats

There are VREY few true women's cleats on the market. Almost all cleats are made on a man's platform and sized 1.5 sizes large. A man's 6 would be a woman's 7.5. Tanel's current metal cleats are sized for both.

    Cleats

I'm happy for Ashton and glad that she is opening doors for other NC softball players. However she was good without them and won the State without them and got recruited without them. GO Ashton show'em that NC is not behind anymore. Proud of you.

    It happens again!!!!!!

2 players this year I know of has broke their ankle from metals cleats. Is it worth the extra grip up get? no I myself has never loved the metals cleats. I believe that the college should train them.

Kayla McGuffy broke hers from sliding with metal cleats.
Chloe Archer just broke her tonight and has to have surgery Saturday Morning May 1st 2010.

Folks I don't think they are worth this!!!!

How many this year has been hurt from them?

I also want to thank West Charlotte for caring about Chloe and praying over her. They are a class act.

"Sliding with metal cleats" causes broken ankles?????? Probably not!!!!! Improperly sliding straight into an anchored base CAN cause broken ankles (and sprained ankles/knees). Sliding that way can cause injury regardless of footwear. How many players do we see NEVER attempting to slide around a base? Way too many! Mom and dad need to teach DD proper sliding technique at an early age. Coaches need to drill it regularly.

...Wanna be tagged out and increase your chances of injury? ...then don't learn how to slide to either side around a tag!

We wish Chloe all the best in her recovery.

    okay...

i normally try to live by the motto 'if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all'... but this whole thread blows my mind. All of you anti-metal people need to lighten up and try discussing something that is worth the time you spent typing out your arguments.

I played in metal spikes through college and in my professional career and stole 198 bases in college. Ask me how many times I got injured cause of my metal cleats????????????????? I got cut in the thigh twice and I was the one who cleated myself diving in the outfield. I never rolled an ankle because they "got stuck" in the clay. I did once slip and fall running out of the bathroom once cause i was on deck BUT Let me tell you if your players get hurt cause their metal cleats get stuck in the clay then maybe they need to drop a little weight and cuss out gravity not their cleats. Ill give you that metal cleats arent as comfortable as the rubber ones but they made me a tenth of a second faster to first and a half a second quicker home to home and now I have 2 NFCA All American trophies sitting on my shelf because of it. If you told me to that wearing roller skates would make me faster down the line then I would have been the first one at store to get a pair.

And in response to the post saying that its something the college coach should teach them....hahahahaha!!!!!!!!! do you really think that we ever had sliding practice day in college? Its like running, throwing, catching and fielding... they are the basics of this game and arent worth wasting practice time teaching. College is where we take our fundamentals and push them to the next level. I was taught how to slide back door by my assistant going "hey that fat ss is barely getting to the bag...you ever thought about sliding pass the bag?" but other than that no one ever taught me to slide... my travel ball coach would just say 'man that looked like it hurt slide right and it wont hurt.' So being that I have a brain I watched how my teammates did it and figured it out. I'm really sorry for being so blunt but all these kids are getting to the next level lacking two very needed skills... the ability to problem solve on their own and the inability to accept responsibility and not blame their failure on some sort of equipment. Its the bats, my glove, the cleats, the ball.... instead of thinking (like the rest of us in the stands and dugout) 'I didnt get to that ball cause i was sitting on my heels and being lazy and didnt get a good jump on it.'

Im not heartless and I know some kids and programs just play dirty and slide cleats up but thats life... its up to umpires to police that and for the 9 players on the field to recognize it and make an adjustment. In all my years around this game I have only seen one injury by metal cleats caused by others and that was playing a dirty team who found it okay to do an impression of the karate kid kick into our catchers chest protector. All the rest of the injuries were caused by athletes cleating themselves.

I have however been blessed to always have a pitcher as a roommate and they dont seem to like them not because of the injury factor but because it messes up some sort of slide they feel when they plant and being the princesses that all of them are they are uncomfortable. SOOOOOOOOOO drum roll please.... they wear rubber and the ones that also play another position have both types.

So, if your kids dont like them give them some tough love and tell them that they will make them better and if they dont want to make their game better then do us all a favor and join the swim, cc or volleyball team last I checked they dont wear cleats.

What is next???? We gonna wrap them in bubble wrap? And to whoever said whats next are we gonna have tee ballers wear them my answer is if they made a pair small enough heck yeah id have all my tee ballers in them and you know what we would beat your team every day of the week...

Sorry for being rude but from an athletes view this whole thread is disrespectful to the game i love. To quote a shirt "shut up and play"

Actually, I thought the discussion was going rather well, with good points points from both sides until you weighed in with this soap box version of Legends of the Game. I guess you have your right to be rude. I did miss the point where anyone had begun "attacking the game" though. I will say in conclusion that your post does reek of the same self rightious attitudes that have been only a piece of the puzzle which has resulted in my decision to step away from this game and leave to the know-it-all's to cater to the arrogant parents and spoiled athletes that seem to be the majority in today's sports and life in general. Gee...I guess that was my soap box diatribe. Maybe I do have a right to my opinion as well. Anyway, I'm sure THE GAME is better off without the likes of my dinosaur beliefs, so best of luck to ya'll. I'll be looking for you on ESPN shortly.
