Just looking for some information on admission prices to high school softball games. We have traveled to many locations the last two years and have various prices or nothing at all to get into our daughter's high school games.

    1. What does it cost to get into your home games?
    2. Is there a price for students and a price for adults? If so, what is the difference.
    3. Where does the money that is collected go? Does it go back to the softball program, the school's athletic department, or the school district as a whole.

Please take time to answer these questions for us. We have been told different stories about the fee structure and what happens to the money in our area. The current fee also keeps students from attending our games. We need to do something to get more students in the stands.

The answer to most of your questions is controlled by the conference affailation.

I know for example our conf. charges $5 for softball (adult and students). The gate money at most schools goes to the home school's Athletic Dept. The specific team makes earns their money through concessions and fundraisers.

In Ohio we only paid once the teams made it to Districts--second level of state playoffs.

I paid $3.00 a game every game for my daughter middle school years, $5.00 for every game all 4 years of her high school years. I did not pay a dime, not one red cent to watch her play her freshman year in college no matter if we were at home or away until we got to our conference tournament. I then paid $5.00 for a day. Things that make you go Hum!!!!!!

    wonder why they don't?

Sounds like college softball should be charging a gate admission.

What do you think the difference in attendance #'s would be charging say $3 or $5 vs. the current free admission?

Stanford was having trouble getting people to many of the womens events so they made most events free. I don't know how that worked for other events, but the 2 softball games I have been to this season had the stadium about 1/2 full, even the game in February when it was cold and rain threatened.

In the SW4A conference it is $4 a game, but with State playoffs coming up it is increased by a $1 at that time.

In the NW4A/3A we charge 5 dollars a person, student and adult and the money goes to the home school's athletic budget.
