    First Round: Monday May 3rd at higher seed. 3 v 6, and 4 v 5

    Second Round: Wednesday May 5th at Sun Valley 1 v 4/5 winner 4:30, 2 v 3/6 winner 7:00.

Championship: Friday May 7th at Sun Valley, 7:00pm

SO, at least one of the playoff qualified teams will lose in the first round on day 1, and will not play another game until the first round of the playoffs on Friday May 14th. It should have been scheduled for Thursday May 6, Friday May 7th, and Monday May 10. In this format, even the conference finalists will still have an entire week off before the first round of the playoffs.

    What a joke.

I'm just glad that we are playing a conference tournament this year. There was a whole lot of down time the past few years without one....format is a little screwy and really won't have a huge effect on seedings in the state tourney no matter who wins it. I think there is only going to be one team left out of the playoffs because Sun Valley and Porter Ridge getting the automatic bids in the 4A tourney. Should still be a good one though.

    Semi-final scores

    #5 Anson 7
    #1 Marvin Ridge 5

Anson has a six run outburst in the second inning, including a two out grand slam by SS Jordan Hildreth that carries the Bearcats to the upset win.

    #6 Porter Ridge 6
    #2 Weddington 7

Weddington took control early taking a 5-0 lead into the fifth inning. However, starting pitcher Anthony Boone gets into trouble in the fifth and doesn't get out of it until the Pirates have plated six runs taking a 6-5 lead. Weddington was not finished, however. SS Peyden Honeycutt hits a one out solo HR to left in the bottom of the sixth to knot the game at 6. In the bottom of the seventh, nine hole hitter Chase Prilliman delivers a one out single plating the game winning running after two walks put a runner in scoring position. LHP Jordan Newsome picked up the win in relief, and lefty Cody Rick took the loss for the Pirates.

Weddington's win, combined with Marvin Ridge's loss, secures the #1 3A playoff for Weddington from the SCC. Marvin Ridge becomes the #2. Currently Parkwood is the #3 seed from the 3A side. However, should Anson win the championship game on Friday, the Bearcats become the #2, eliminating Parkwood from the playoffs, and dropping Marvin Ridge to the #3.
On the 4A side, Porter Ridge's failed bid at the conference title means they remain the #2 4A seed from the SCC with Sun Valley holding onto the #1 seed for the 4A playoffs.

Needless to say, there is still quite a bit of intrigue surrounding Friday's championship game. First pitch is at 7:00 pm when the #2 Weddington Warriors take on the #5 Anson Bearcats at Sun Valley High School for the SCC tournament championship.

    Weddinton Wins Conference

Weddington got off to a slow start Fri night, but got it rolling in the 2nd. Colby Spivey got the 1st RBI. Then Chase Prillaman followed with a shot to RF scoring 2 more on the play. The bats at the top of the order got hot again and Weddington posted 2 more in the 3rd. Eventually Weddington puts 10 on the board in the 6th to end the game. Spivey holds Anson Co to 3 hits on the night while striking out 5. A great job by the entire team
Spivey gets the Win, with Newsome getting the save.
    Newsome 3 run homer
    Kersnowski 3-3
    Prillaman 2-3, 2 rbi, 3 stolen bases
    Bostic 2 rbi
