Mallard Creek beat WC to finish 8-4 in conference. If i am not mistaken i believe we are in the state playoffs and can finish as high as 2 and no lower than fourth if the four teams finish with four losses due to our sweep of NorthMeck. We can't pass Hopewell due to them sweeping us but we have split with LN, Mooresvile. Of course i am probably wrong as usual so if someone can explain the tiebreakers please do.

 

Tie-breaker

Actually if North beats Hopewell Fri and LKN beats Mooresville there would be 5 teams tied at 8-4 if I'm not mistaken....I'm curious about the tie-breaker as well.

 

Hopewell needs to beat North Meck and a loss by Mooresville to Lake Norman to win the conference. Hopewell just needs to beat North to become co-champs of the conference.

 

If Mooresville and Hopewell win Friday, Mooresville will get the I-Meck top seed in the state tourney due to the sweep of Hopewell. But to draw a SW4A team in round 1 is not actually a reward for winning the conference.

 

Nope. no co-champs in that scenario. If Hopewell wins and Mooresville wins, Mooresville wins conference because of sweep of Hopewell. If N. Meck wins and LKN wins then let the powers that be figure it out because it is a mess.

 

Might be time to get that shiny coin out of the dresser drawer.....could be coin toss time in the I-Meck!

 

I choose to wait and see. One thing I do know is that if NM and Lake Norman wins we have a mess. It is incorrect for Mallard Creek to assume they cannot finish behind NM. The logic that they beat them twice can be used by NM, Hopewell, Mooresville, and Mallard Creek (this assumes a NM win Friday which will be a difficult at Hopewell and Mooresville being upset by Lake Norman). NM beat Mooresville twice, Mooresville beat Hopewell twice, and Hopewell beat MC twice. I don't expect a five way tie, but it happens, the five sided coin will be flipped.

 

Either way with the way this conference went this year, surely the 5th team will get a wildcard if available. I hope so, there are truly 5 great teams in this conference that deserve the chance!

 

When did the rule change? In this conference the last 4 years teams at the top of the conference with the same record share the conf. title. Mooresville would still get the #1 seed for the state playoffs is the only difference. I would still love to see the rule book. Where did you find the rule that stated that info?

The way I read it, tiebreakers come into play for seeding purposes only. But regular season ties are co-champions, tr-champions, etc.
