    Ragsdale's Struggles

It's a combination of things. As Wossa said, for one thing they don't have any pitching. The past two times they have played SW, I literally didn't sweat it too much as a SW fan if Ragsdale plated a couple runs because you knew that we were going to be able to put double figures on the board with who they had on the mound.

I'm not bashing the kids, as they all go out and try their best. A couple of the kids who have been forced to throw innings for them this year aren't even pitchers. I'm just speaking to what Wossa is saying about how you have to have pitching in order to compete, especially in this conference.

Part of the equation is also that E Forsyth and SW Guilford are just very good. Southwest is 22-4 overall now and we're red hot after starting conference play 1-3. SW Guilford vs Ragsdale is always a backyard rivalry and we are always fired up to play one another. The new conference is a lot of fun for me because we're paired up in a conference with Ragsdale again, the way it should be.

I feel like Ragsdale is the 3rd best team in the conference even at full strength, but one could argue that they are right up there with E Forsyth and SW Guilford. Certainly they wouldn't be getting embarrassed if they were at full strength.

The thing is, I think they'll struggle more next year than they are this year. They lose Anderson, Fultz, Stone, Sparks, etc. (basically all their best players).

I just watched the film back and I have Wes Dumford with 10k's, 5hits and 1bb. What a great outing by Lewis and Dumford. Nick Keith may be one of the hardest outs in this league! Eliminate a base running mistake, or two and we have a different outcome. Either way, this was an epic battle between 2 programs with a ton of success over the last few years. I am extremely proud of these 2 former 3A NPC teams and their performance in the inaugural 4A IMeck this year. Congrats to Hopewell on the conference title. We celebrated too early, as was mentioned by a Hopewell poster earlier; however, we showed a bunch of teams that we belonged here this year. I am extremely proud of our Blue Devils! I am looking forward to the playoffs and to the Legion season that follows. I am expecting great things from these guys in Mooresville this Summer!!

Cuthbertson wins the RRC 2-A over West Stanly

First year Cuthbertson HS wins their first conference tournament over a strong West Stanly team, 8 - 3. The pitching and the bats were coming together for Cuthbertson in this tourney. Tonight, HR's were hit by JD Long (So) and Brandon Fallick(Fr). Austin Pierce (Fr) had a triple. Peter Hendel made a nice hit and run that turned into a double. Everybody else had hits and/or did their part with runs and RBI's.

WP - Cameron Tekker - left in the 5th.
    Save - Preston Morrison
LP - Demetrius Ingram (This kid really throws the heat)

Cuthbertson moves into a second place standing for the state playoffs and has home field for the first game. CHS now stands at 21 - 3 for the season. Travis Little has really helped make things happen for this very young team.

    Sanderson 9 Enloe 1

On a perfect night for baseball, the Sanderson Spartans avenged an earlier loss and picked up their 2nd conference win on Senior Night. One of our seniors, Jon King, made his first varsity start on the bump and pitched 4 strong innings to take the win. Jon gave up up 4 hits and struck out 9. Another senior, Brian Burke, came in to finish off the last 3 innings giving up only 1 hit. It was great to see the boys give one of their best efforts of the season and send the 5 seniors out in style at home.

The one negative to the evening was when Jon King suffered what looked to be a knee injury on the bases in the 4th. Here's to hoping it is only minor and he can be back for the final game on Monday.

    Riverside secures PAC-6 conference champs

    Riverside 14 16 0
    Person 1 4 1

DJ Thomas arguably threw the best game of his high school career, striking out 16 Person batters, while walking 3 in 7 innings of work. With the win, RHS moves to 17-5 overall, and 11-0 in conference with 1 game left in the season.

Next game: Monday vs. Jordan, 7pm at Riverside

    That bat

what happens to the ACR bat that had all those hits in the McDowell and TC Roberson games that got thrown out by the umpires. Does it get reviewed by the state sports association?
