    Caleb

Caleb played First and pitched. He is a battler. Ran into a buzzsaw with North Davidson. They are a good looking team.

    ref mooresville losing

Look who is coaching that will tell you why they lost playing kids out of position. Every year we start to do good but this great and brillant coaching staff decides it is time to end the season. Just maybe time to end their tenure?

For the most part, city boys are flashy and smooth, but often soft. Country boys are rough around the edges, but tough and gritty....tough and gritty ballplayers often defeat smooth and flashy ones. Just my opinion and I know there are exceptions to this rule, but I think it applies more often than not in explaining some of these results.

I'm never good with stats, but this is what I know. Alex Baker started and he had good "stuff", but it was apparent that his long layoff to injury affected his location. Ashton Lover came in to pitch, I believe in the 4th, and recorded 9 K's. It was an awesome performance by Ashton against a very good hitting team.

What should cause some concern for opponents is Ak's performamnce at the plate. Their lack of team hitting has been their achilles heel this year, but ever since Alex Leach started to get hot and Brett Lang found his lumber, the Knights are so much better. The funny thing is as their hitting has gotten stronger their pitchig has become inconsistent. If they can be consistent in all areas, they can get on a roll.

By the way, Alex Leach went yard twice- one being a granny- Jack Reinheimer chipped in with his own GS and Brett Lang and Logan Ratledge had their own. It was a very impressive display.

I salute Mt Tabor, too. The score was not indicative of the heart shown by this team. After the 1st inning they were down 6-0. The game appeared to be over as AK was too strong this night. But nobody told Mt Tabor. These guys battled back to make the game 6-4 and they were pushing for more runs. It was an amazing comeback and displayed why they deserved to be in the playoffs. Many times a team's character is revealed in a defeat. These kids have plenty of character.

Alex Baker started for AK and Jamie Nunn for tabor, Lover came in in either the 4th or 5th for the knights. Both pitchers for kell struggled to find the zone at time and gave up a lot of baserunners. Tabor had to have stranded 11 or 12 baserunners.

No question I'd prefer the lunch bucket player, but there is nothing smooth and flashy about Marvin Ridge. They take on the personality of their coach and for those that know Mark Mennitt....ain't nothing smooth and flashy about him. They just got beat by a team that was better that night.

9 BB's given up to Mt Tabor. Obviously a few key hits would have made this a slugfest, but you have to tip your hat to Lover; 9 K's in 4 innings is pretty good!

I'd like to hear from those that attended the Alex Cent vs South Caldwell game and the E Gaston vs Watauga game for details.

    Those were amazing scores.
