    He's a classy young man and deserves all the attention he receives. He's humble, polite, quiet and a monster on the field. The whole family is like baseball royalty and his dad is the ambassador.

    Great job, Langston. I love those stories.

    I have been

    very fortunate to coach a lot of fine young men in my life. And I have to say that Mikal is right there at the top of the list in every aspect. Not only is he extremely talented but he is one of the most coachable and likeable players I have ever been around. He is extremely competitive and makes it fun to come to the ball park knowing he is on your team.

    I remember a tourney we were in one summer and all he was seeing was off speed. He had a couple of bad ab's and I looked at him and said "Mikal why are you looking for anything other than an off speed pitch?" He just smiled. He got up and drilled a cb to the wall for a triple. And then he just smiled at me. I don't think he made another out that weekend.

    He has been raised the right way there is no doubt. Humble and respectful at all times and always ready to pick up a team mate. There is no doubt in my mind Mikal is going to have a bright future in this game. And there is no doubt that no matter what he does once he hangs up the spikes he will be successful in life. Anyone that gets the chance to play with him or coach him is lucky.

    Wow!

    I remember seeing Mikal hit a triple on an 0-2 count off a sinking pitch at his ankles and thinking "Wow. I haven't seen that before"....and he was 12 at the time! Even then, he was adjusting and driving a well-pitched ball.

    Congratulations to a deserving player!

    Great Kid - Congrats !

    My son got to play with Mikal a few times and he always said he is a great teammate - and a great player.

    Nice article and good luck in the draft in June 2011 - can't believe he is only a junior !!
