UNC OR NCSU for 8th & final slot - ACC Tourn.

He must have gotten thru. noles beat pack in game 3 shortened by a storm and bad pitching.

pack up by one game in the elusive chase for slot # 8.

 

Anybody see a scenario where UNC doesn't make the ACC Tournament, & still makes the NCAA as the conference's 7th entry. (ahead of BC & State)

 

.....Overall records at this point have UNC and NCSU locked even and oconference record has NCSU a slight one full game favorite. I f NCSU wins 2 v. Duke this week I have a hard time seeing them losing out on the 8th spot....unless UNC sweeps VT. If the broom comes out for UNC and not for NCSU then the Heels jump to 8th and win on the series tie breaker.
As for Nat. tourney spots, if UNC go to the ACCs, they might get a low seed due to their past perfomances.
If NCSU wins the 8th spot then I'd be amazed if UNC got a nod for the Nats.

In softball, NCSU finished 5th and had a RPI of around 50.
Maryland finished sixth in the ACC.

Guess who is still playing....yep Maryland.

Who knows what will happen but I do know that this a cool race for #8 and I'll be at the games for sure.

What about this scenario: UNC sweeps Va. Tech this weekend & goes ahead of Tech in the RPI but still doesn't qualify for the ACC tourney.

Is there any scenario (besides qualifying for and winning the ACC Tourn.) that NCSU makes the NCAA regionals?

With an RPI of 30 or better, its hard for me to see a team not getting in the Nats.
