    Apex run reminds me of one of the most remarkable runs in hs baseball I can remember. A few years back East Chapel Hill played their last regular season game and turned in their uniforms thinking their season was over. They got a gift when a team lost a game no one expected to even be close and they got a playoff spot. The coach had to round up his team and hand back out the uniforms the next day. They made it all the way to the finals.

    Once you get in you just never know what is going to happen. A team can get hot , catch the right breaks and make a great run. The records mean nothing once you get in. You dont have to be the best team just the best team for two hours on a given night.

    Coach Valder is one of the best in the game that usually doesn't get the attention. He always has his guys READY to give 110%.

    This game was a quick game, well played by both teams. The Myers Park pitcher was in command the whole way, scattering three singles (sorry, didn't get his name). Hunter Conley also pitched a fine game, particularly from the third inning on. MP bunched three singles and a sac fly to plate their two runs in the second. There wasn't much offense on either side and no one threatened any extra base hits. MP's Brent George and Grant Fisher made some nice snags of well-struck line drives and Cody Strickland made a nice play for Hopewell from shortstop, flashing across the infield on a slow roller and getting the runner by a step....not much else to report.

    NCHSAA website had Holly Springs beating Wakefield 5 to 4. Unconfirmed report of New Hanover beating South View. If true, Mideastern Conference fills up the top of the 4A east bracket.
