    Holly Springs-Wakefield

Holly Springs scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th to beat Wakefield. I wasn't able to make it but the word I got was Rodon relieved in the 6th inning and gave up 1 run in the top of the 8th before HS rallied in the bottom of the inning. Very tough loss for Wakefield tonight.

Matt Hedberg was lights out in shutting down a very dangerous Hopewell lineup. 0 walks, 3 hits, 5 K's and he went 2 for 3 at the plate. MP only mustered 5 hits, but with good pitching and good d, this was enough to make the difference.

    E Forsyth 3 Ardrey Kell 0

    Both teams had 5 hits.

Shane Dickerson for E. Forsyth kept Kell in check, having 6 K's and 2 BB's.

Alex Baker for AK had 7 k's and no walks giving up 5 hits.

    - The leadoff batter for East Forsyth, Luke Dunlap, went down and got a low pitch and lifted it out of the park to stake E Forsyth to a 1-0 lead in the first inning that lasted into the sixth.
    - East's Orenstein then had a lead off bunt single down the third baseline in the sixth. While everyone in the ballpark expected a bunt to advance the runner, the Kell pitcher threw one high at the batters hands on the first pitch and O'Dell swung away and hit a 2 run homerun.

This game was fast as that was all the scoring for the entire night.

Kell had some chances, but give Dickerson credit - he pitched really well and adjusted to use the interesting strike zone to his advantage.

    Northwest 12 West Iredell 2

NW gets an all around effort from the entire team tonight beating WI in 5 innings. Taylor West through complete game and was never challenged until the 5th. Our hats off to Kannapolis Head Coach Empsy Thompson and everyone at AL Brown on letting us use their field on such short notice. Hopefully the NW field will be in alot better condition on Friday as Charlotte Catholic comes to town.

    Eastern Wayne over Currituck 6-2

Eastern Wayne will travel to West Brunswick for a rematch of last years eastern sectional match up that John Wooten won with 2 swings of the bat. Should be another great game in Shallotte with Gavin Lane (7-1) on the mound for the Trojans!

GrahamCracker - Anything can happen in 1 game

GC - you make a good point - anything can happen in 1 game.

Wish North Carolina would look at Georgia and Texas' 3 game series formats.

Seemed to some discontent with the umpire especially on some foul balls but from what I saw they were the correct call (field guy got one correct with his back to the play when it hooked around behind him and another 3B feet were in foul territory). Didn't matter to me, down at the beach this week and was able to catch a good game. Tough loss for RM but they do have some good players and imagine they will be expected to do well again next year.
