Thanks, I can tell you that getting high school names spelled correctly is one of the toughest things in journalism. In baseball, scorecards are sometimes hard to read, rosters will be out and out wrong sometimes. And I once did years worth of stories on an All American high school quarterback who spelled his name out for me with an E on the end of it. I wrote it that way for years.

Finally his father handed me his biz card. It had no "E."

So I go back to the kid and ask why.

"Because I like the way it looks better that way."

    Ugh.

I won't even say how many times and in how many ways my kid's name has been butchered.

    I notice that :)

I know how to spell it and lots of Pirates will know how to spell it next season! Sorry to see the season end, he had a great high school career, now onto the next phase of his life.

I have enjoyed watching him play and hope my son can take his spot at SS in 10 years! Can't wait to see how his name gets spelled!

    Awww..thanks Tripp.

It's been a wonderful ride, but ended all too abruptly last night - I'm trying to look ahead, but I find that it is still stinging a bit today. Where did those four years go???? I know that you will enjoy and document each phase of your son's baseball career. I hope he brings as much joy to you as my son has brought to me. But cherish it because I swear to you, it is GONE in a flash and that, my friend, is the saddest part of all...

Most just call him Rhiney....easier to spell. But one thing no one will forget...how he plays the game.

    We Will Miss Watching Jack

He has been spectacular - smooth as silk and a great bat with great speed too. Absolutely wears the opposing pitcher out, if he doesn't get the pitch he wants he just fouls it off and makes you throw another....

Last night was another great play - slow roller that he has to charge, bare hand fields the ball and throws in one motion for the out...

Like the one off the other fielders glove in the conference tourney finals that he back hands and still get the runner out...

    More and more...

What's so hard to spell about Jack anyway? Hahaha
